That's nice of you to say! Thank you!

Great question! It's a complicated answer because it's not just about having your dog do various behaviors and tasks, but teaching him to do these things in a variety of contexts (around distractions, in new places like outside etc...) For that reason, treats are recommended any time you change up a variable. If you really go out of your way, you can phase out treats in these various contexts within about a year. Of course, you can quickly phase out treats while asking your dog to do things in your house and free of distractions in most cases. See my video on "how to teach your dog to listen without treats" Good question and thanks for your support!

We need more people like you, tremendous effort, great quality.

I was wondering when should I start phasing out the treat/ lures when puppy training. My puppy is around 5 months old and he does a lot of cool tricks, but I usually can't get him to connect the trick to the verbal cues. The only one he really knows is sit, but most of the time I have to give him a directional cue or lure him into the trick. I have been working on these tricks for a about 2 1/2 months should he haved learned it by now?? He is very energetic and super smart and can usually pick up what I am trying to teach him pretty quickly.
