Banana Liquid RBDs Part 01

In this part I'll show you how to create custom velocities to drive the motion of a FLIP sim, then we'll take the motion of the liquid and use that to drive the motion of an RBD sim.

Banana Liquid RBDs Part 01

Hi Ian. Somhow the liquid effect in my case is really hectic and the mini implosions are not visible. I followed all your parameters. Do you know why it is not behaving as yours? Calmer with specific points exploding? Thank you

Bruno Suraski

Oh weird, It's likely just freezing the frame at the first frame

Hello, Ian. I have a problem with this setup that I cannot solve. :( If we replace the collision object with a different object, the Rbd simulation does not give the correct result. For example; when we want to use Skull instead of Banana, it does not work even though the Geometry Representation is concave. When I prefer Geometry Representation, Convex or Sphere, this time the collisions do not occur at the correct distance. I would like you to try the same setup on objects with different curves at your convenience and let me know the result. I would like to understand where I am going wrong.

I'm coming back to say that I think H may have bugged out a $F works fine. $SF I believe also uses substeps so just something to note.

If anyone is having an issue with setting the MOPs Transform to Stop on Frame 7, use $SF<7 instead. This uses 'simulation frame' instead of frame and worked for me.

Yeah there isn’t a native node to do that inside the dopnet. Outside of the dopnet, put down a wrangle and set a @scale attribute and animate it from 1 to whatever size you want. Then inside the dopnet, on the rbdpackedobject, make sure you enable “overwrite attribute” and make sure scale is written in the little box next to it. That should do it

Hey Ian, at 38:50 where you use a mops transform to make the objects bigger, how would I do that without mops? I see no transform node in the dopnet to use. Not sure what the best approach would be.
