DK Polyshifter - first Steps
Added 2018-10-11 07:51:31 +0000 UTCI have to admit I like the name but we will see if Polyshifter sticks. And don't let your mind play tricks on you changing that "f" to another "t"! ;-)
With the current project I am going to combine creating a mini-course while creating an Asset based on the content. I have to work a bit more on the first introduction video but I wanted to let you guys in the Dev Team already take a look at some of the functionality.
And I also have a decision to make if some functionality goes into both assets.
First let me show you the content of the next tool which will also be used in that course. It is an advanced use of the polar coordinates, creating a so called superellipse. It will be also part of the DK Tool as the Polyshifter since it is the very base to the course idea.

Now the course will create a procedural railsystem that generates from a curve drawn over terrain. It will be very dynamic creating different kinds of pillars to hold it in place depending on its height or creating tunnels through mountains.
And as a final result you get an asset that is able to produce that geometry all by itself.
While the Railsystem Asset is one goal I also want to extract the usefull functionality to the tool and the modelling asset. Some of the core core is already there but there is still alot to do and alot to figure out.

After I created the initial introduction video I am also going to build the fundamentals of the polyshifter asset I mentioned. And you guys are the first to get your hands on it if you are interested.
Looking forward to your feedback.
Cheers
David
