The strategy for the Railsystem and future projects
Added 2019-10-09 12:22:17 +0000 UTCHey folks,
this post is directly adressed to my patrons of the Auditorium tier - those that are able to watch the current videos of the railsystem and due to the tier already did so much to support me in what I try to do and build.
You are probably aware that it is very difficult and time consuming for me to create video content. I am quick to iterate in developement and my head is always filled with ideas for new concepts and projects. But that does not help the fact that it takes me forever to record the video material.
The reason for that is a mix of having high demands on myself, since baby #2 is there I only record at night and having to do narration through voice overs. It is simply the way I am wired - I can't talk when concentrating on work. It is like being in a tunnel where I can only think of the code I am typing. xD
As you know the rail system project file as I planned it is finished for quite some time now but I havn't been able to share it with you since the videos are not finished.
So this all got me thinking about how to improve the overall situation. How can I bring you value and do that faster. You guys are on patreon to support and maybe you don't even care that much about the rate the rail videos progress but I bet some of you would love to get their hands on the project file.
So here are my thoughts what I could do - ideas that came up in a discussion with the guys (Rohan, Farmfield and co.)
To get something out of the way first - the result of this thought process would be access to the project files - for all that ever contributed on this tier - right off the bat.
And since I progressed a fair bit already I finish the rail videos in any case but don't stress myself over it. That would allow me to concentrate on your potential questions and do further developement that I had always in mind for more chapters.
In general it would shift the focus on creating projects that you can get your hands on while I do open or 1 on 1 Q&A when you dissect the project.
With that I also would have to adjust strategies what to do with finished projects - putting it on gumroad for a higher value while keeping it free for you could be one way.
Basicly treat the projects like the tool asset. I personaly think that would allow me to create more, offer you more value and who knows maybe build something bigger that would allow me to do this with more time.
But all of you already invested your hard earned money and supported me so I want to involve you in this thought process.
What feels more interesting to you? A slowly progressing video course or having the project itself and being able to directly ask questions or request feedback on certain aspects of it.
Really looking forward to your feedback!
Cheers
Dave
