Since the lore behind this teaser is once again spoiler-filled, Imma come at this from a different angle- that of the fun fact!
For whatever reason, if there's one character in Axu2 whose name is most frequently forgotten, it's Mallory. I'm not sure why this is the case, but some possibly explanations include: Mallory not being a super-common name for a girl but not being highly memorable either; Mallory's role in the game thusfar not being particularly memorable; and/or the fact that Mallory only appears late in the game, exclusively in a sidequest at that. Perhaps needless to say, the coming update should make her a slightly more memorable character in a few key ways, and I'm excited to have that content finished and ready to share eventually!
Another related fun fact: this art, and the quest it's made for, have been abnormally difficult for me to finish, and not for lack of trying! They aren't particularly elaborate or complicated, so I didn't expect to still be working on them at this present point in time; however, I think I underestimated how difficult it would be for me to represent this side of Mallory, since it's meant to be horrifying without being overwhelmingly villainous (as opposed to someone like Vyle, for example, who's mostly just an evil bastard.) Don't get me wrong, Mallory's not winning any awards for good citizenship, but in the context of Axu2 her brand of scary is going to be more related to a loss of control rather than a planned act of malice. For a better point of comparison, I imagine this would also be Linda's brand of scary during her rampages if she wasn't under the player's direct control. Regardless, it's been a tough balancing act to write and draw, but I'm hopeful that this art and the accompanying quest do Mallory justice in the spoopy department!
One final little note: there will be multiple alts of this art used in the actual update. That's all Imma say about that ;)
