The original material is the LN though. The anime is probably using the LN as it's source and keeping it more grounded which I kinda like. Don't need to be too flashy especially considering how Beryl is. Dull and Dense. Maybe we get a climax where he suddenly knows he is super strong and Aura Farms like SJW?

The animation is showing it "slow" but he is actually moving at insane speed especially in his step in. A pure mage is weak to close combat normally. But she also is odd as she has near zero cast time and like unlimited mana and multi attributes. I bet that first cave he went into, he met some A rank monster and thought it was some E rank goblin....if you ever watch The Ossan Newbie Adventurer or I Perry Everything, Beryl is like Rick Gladiator and Noor combined. And the more eps go by, the less I see Paul Greyrat in Beryl...even his looks...Beryl looks so "down" and "meek" that he is a totally different character. It would be a nice surprise he got a spine one of these eps. And single sword vs dual sword, the whole dominant hand vs non...such a trope in anime except in SAO. But the skill needed to aim that way to disarm a high level fighter is like god tier. That last monster cliff hanger...ok the kid surviving is meh...it would have been better if he was splattered dead but it is light hearted. Next ep, Beryl carves up the griffin and Allucia pouts that she missed the action again.

2025-04-20 16:27:10 +0000 UTCMan, I gotta say I am a bit disappointed in how they changed the fights. It's not that they're just very different than in the manga, as they did expand them and add more overall details in some instances and I don't mind things not being 1:1 with previous sources, it's just that they're really bland as compared to the manga. In the manga they are more exciting despite being shorter, and you get an idea that the MC actually IS a badass and does badass things as opposed to the anime where it usually just seems like he's hanging in there until he sort of wins. There are multiple fights coming up that are awesome as hell in the manga that I now kinda expect to be not that impressive based on what we've seen so far, unless they're saving their fight budget for them specifically. And it's not even that they couldn't have done the stuff from the manga, as it kinda seems like what they're doing is both more difficult while also being less impressive.
