I think Aba made an excellent point about toxic relationships being addictive to many people involved in them. The rollercoaster analogy really fits here. I've actually heard people in toxic relationships justify remaining in the relationship by saying that the lows are very low, but the highs are so high too. They keep chasing that high despite all the other pain and stress associated with the relationship.

There is a whole tribe where I am from where it’s a “requirement “ for their men to hit their women, like for those women if their men aren’t crazy jealous and hit them, then the man don’t love her, like they equate love with physical violence and they would go out of their way to push the men buttons to get those reactions from them. I really could not believe it and thought it was hear say and stereotyping (just because we all black and all African don’t mean there isn’t discrimination amongst tribes, yup it’s messed up 🤷🏽♀️) but one day I came upon a post in a group where the topic was domestic violence and under this post, women were defending and confirming that if her man isn’t jealous enough to hit her then he must be cheating or don’t love her. 😢🤯

Hmm... I think, something also (idk if this is the case, probably not) people have problem with overresponsibility and they stay with toxic and crazy people, because they feel responsible to help or solve some problem. It's especially hard if sb(crazy/toxic partner) paints it like you are the only one who can do sth or convinces you very hard.
But that's for therapy and building boundaries.

As soon as Preach said the Dominican comment, I had to google where Oro Solido is from. They have a song titled “Abusadora” and it starts off saying that the theme is about women who abuse/hit men and men who like to be abused/hit. Oro Solido is indeed a Dominican band.
