DETO Cosplay Plans

Hey guys, I hope you are all doing well and are ready for another great week ahead.

I am super excited to tell you about my upcoming cosplay plan that I will be competing with at DETO in November. *Drum rolls* it's Belle from the "new" anime movie Belle. When I first saw YaYa wearing this costume, I fell in love with the design. Immediately afterward, I watched the movie, and I must say that the art is amazing. At its core, it is actually the tale of Beauty and the Beast with some alterations. The movie touches upon a lot of important topics which are easily overlooked or ignored in our daily lives, such as depression, anxiety, bullying, and abuse. As I might have mentioned before - I am still battling depression on a daily basis and since the topic is close to me - I would like to convey this in my stage performance.

I will be cosplaying the main character from the movie: Belle. And more specifically, I will be cosplaying her Parade Flower dress. It is a petal-style dress that has a lot of actual flowers and motifs throughout the costume. The original makeup design is also something that drew me to the character. I will make sure to be working extra hard on that, as I want this to be a great cosplay with a great message.

I will be sharing some more WIP pictures with you in the following weeks as I am building the costume. I already went fabric shopping, and I was able to find a cute sateen that I really liked and was at a really good price point. I also have a metric ton of fake flowers from every possible variety and the full spectrum of the color red, so building it will be quite fun (or stressful.... or both).

On a side note, I am also stoked to be visiting Switzerland. I think that it is an amazing country with even more stunning views and will make sure to at least bask in its beauty, even if it is for 20 minutes. Hopefully, there will be more time for tourism and also a lot of great traditional food that I can try out. I need to be prepared for snow too.
