Kodak instamatic Episode cancel and updates

Hello Everyone, I got some bad news. So not too long ago when I went to the BBQ event in SoCal to work on the Kodak instamatic episode. I used expired 126 film at the event. But when I use this expired film at the event. The film didn't work. But I know you're thinking "okay what's going on? What happened?" Yesterday night when I received my images back from the lab, I also received a note from them about the 126 film.

This is the message I got from them:

"Sorry, one or more rolls of film submitted with your order is blank or has not produced any images. You will receive your negatives back along with a voucher to use towards future processing.

 Thank you."

So the images didn't show up on the film. I had a strange feeling something like this was going to happen. But I was lucky enough to bring a backup Kodak funsaver disposable film camera at the event. I used the disposable film camera at this event to take a lot of photos of  fursuiters on film. In case the expired film didn't work out. So that way when I get images of people on film they won't feel disappointed.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to cancel the Kodak instamatic episode this year. Again it's because the expired film didn't work. I went through all the hard work making this episode and I'm disappointed that the film didn't work. So next time in future episodes I'm gonna use fresh film for now on. I'm going to discontinue using expired film. Because expired films are one of those hit or miss challenges. Sometimes the film will work and sometimes it won't work at all. I've also mention this in one of my photography episodes as well. So for now on I'm going to use fresh film for these projects. In all honesty I do apologize for the inconvenience.

The next episode that I'll be working on this week is the "Brownie Reflex Synchro Model." Yesterday in the afternoon I went to the fursuit trolley event. I actually took some photos of people on film with this camera. But what's interesting about it is I was able to find fresh new film for this camera too. There's a company in Japan that still makes 127 film to this day and I was able to use that film for this camera. So yeah this camera actually takes 127 film. I thought this film format died out years ago in 1995. But a company in Japan still makes these films available in today's time. It's just incredible that some companies actually keep the old film formats of alive in today's time. Anyways I'll be working on this episode this week.

Starting next year in 2020 I'm going to start developing film at home. Why am I doing this? To be honest every time I work on the photography series. I'm wasting a lot of time and money by mailing off my film to the lab. So Every time I work on a new episode, I always mail off my film to lab to get develop and digitally scanned. This stuff is expensive. But it also takes about a week or two to get the images back from the lab as well. I feel bad about this because people want to see the images right away after events. We live in that time where people want instant gratification. Basically people want stuff done and now. So I thought "Hey if I start developing film at home this can help speed up the process of getting the images out online." What's great about it is, I can help speed up the process of getting the episodes done in video production. I want to speed things up and keep up with the viewers online. So next year; I'm gonna start developing film at home. If you guys want to help me out on this project you can by supporting me here on patreon or Ko-fi.
