Goal/Reward/Tier Changes
Added 2015-04-29 20:59:49 +0000 UTCOkay so I've been thinking about this for a while, and I think I've finally got something I can offer to you guys as thanks, but also making some changes so that my bills and stuff are met without me having to work 7 days straight (On comics or paid work). Anyway I would like your input on this before I make the changes. Please note that if I go forward with this, that they won't actually take effect until June (In other words, your donations for May will go towards this but I can't do anything for it until June when the subscription payments go through). I hope that makes sense. If you really hate something, /please/ tell me. I'd rather not lose anyone to this. If you have any other suggestions, let me know. I can't promise I can make the change, but I will entertain any ideas that you guys suggest. And if you're okay with it, you can feel free to let me know as well. If you don't want to reply publicly here, you can always email me at jakkal@gmail.com or send me a private message here, on DA, or FA. Please note if you send me a note on DA or FA that I might not get it right away because I don't often check them. Anyway, here are my thoughts starting for May's donation period: --Goal Changes: Remove Q&A (Could do a monthly AMA on Patreon instead). AMA could be to the writers, to me, or to the characters. Please note that for the Kaerwyn comic, I only write for Endymion, Lorelei and Sisari. For the others, I'll have to ask their players and get back to you. BT Updates: $500/month Four Kaerwyn's a week: $700/month (In the space of that 4th Kaerwyn, I can actually make up to $240 extra per month, so this is why I'm thinking about doing this). --Thinking about rewarding people not just on tiers, but donation totals. For example: *After $50 donated - Get one lineart sketch commission. (one character) *After $100 donated - Get one color sketch commission. (One character.) *After $200 - Get one color sketch commission (one character) *After $500 - Get one AO commission (One character commission, no BG). May be restricted depending on character type, markings, clothing, gear, etc. This will be retroactive. *These numbers may be altered. This might also note include every X amount. For example, If I do a color commission for people for every $100 they've donated, so far I owe 49 commissions. I simply do not have time for that. --Patreon Credits: The top 15 donators will be listed at the end of the comic issue for which they donated for (The months that it was active). They'll be divided into Gold, Silver and Bronze based on totals. Also thinking about making a "Sponsor" page on Kaerwyn and BT's sites. This will list all donators for the current issues based on their tier. --Tier Changes: I may get rid of the 'commission per month' setup and switch to this. Subscribe $20+ month: $5 discount on sketch commission requests (Only good per month that this subscription is being met. No more than 2 per month. This number does not roll over.) Subscribe $50+ month: $10 discount on sketch commission requests. (Only good per month that this subscription is being met. No more than 3 per month. This number does not roll over.)

Well right now, Kaerwyn is my baby. It's the one I really want to work on. BT is actually the anchor to the machine, it's weighing me down. I'm only updating it because people want me to, but I have zero drive to work on it. And I'm afraid that's making the whole comic suffer. The only way I can continue putting effort into BT is if it can carry its weight with donations, so I don't have to do things like commissions to make up for it.

2015-05-01 19:34:54 +0000 UTCAre 4 Kaerwyn and 1 BT page necessary? Just thinking, how about doing 2+2 instead? Maybe you could upload additional concept art or funny excerpts from the Kaerwyn RP instead? I like the donation total system with the commissions, since I cannot profit from anything in my current donation tier at all.

2015-04-30 17:53:39 +0000 UTCYeah, right now I'm trying to figure out exactly how to do the logistics of it. As things are currently, I have like, no free time. Which makes it difficult to do extra stuff like "commissions owed to Patreon Subs". So I have to make it an amount that's reasonable, like every $100, and make sure that only a few people per month are hitting that goalpost. If that makes sense. If I suddenly get a lot of people that are hitting the goal on a monthly basis, I will have to rethink how I do this.

2015-04-29 23:40:14 +0000 UTCI'm 100% a fan of the donation amount = A specific commission. Mostly because it benefits me since I do $50 a month. I'd still be able to take advantage of the discount option but not really all that much. I would absolutely love to get a free colored comm every two months, if that is how it would work.

2015-04-29 23:38:11 +0000 UTCThose that have a higher sub per month would probably get priority.

2015-04-29 22:45:07 +0000 UTCTo assust with this, do patreons get some sort of priority queueing?
