His own stated reasoning was his honour would not permit him to expect anything from anyone that he wouldn't commit to himself. Now this jumped-up little squit suddenly waltzes in with his own stolen arcanery, and fucks around with reality in a way that not only nullifies Renard's act of sacrifice, it made it completely pointless and redundant, and renders his honour and gesture in doing so utterly meaningless.
