I need more time.

I was really hoping to avoid making this post, but it's inevitable. I need more time before I can start up the comic again. Of all the stuff I need to do, I've only managed to get a couple of things done.

I need to build the sets that this comic will use, and it's very slow going. I'm not at all a blender pro.  In the end, this will save me time as I won't have to draw the backgrounds by hand.  I've been fighting with the Artworks layout for the past two weeks. It looks great on paper, as a model it looks pretty good. But when I need to actually get the camera in there and take comic backgrounds, it was not working.

Yesterday I came to the conclusion that I need to throw out the floorplan that I had, and build the sets outside of their normal dimensions just to make them viable as comic sets.  (They look sort of like TV show sets to give you an idea).  The Artworks doesn't need a large storefront, but it does need a large work area.   In my floorplans, I had the storefront as just a small triangle.  But taking screenshots, for some reason it looked super cramped and awkward.

As you can see, it's a little cramped.

Here's the original floorplan:

Now, that floorplan is actually for the current RP, as the 'medroom' is not something that will exist for a while in the comic.  But I wanted to use both buildings just to make things easier.  There, with my little guys to give me a sense of scale, make it all look fine.  But in practice? Nope, just didn't work.

I had to throw out all my plans just to make a workable background, so all the sets will be completely independent of each other, and "where'd the extra space come from" will just have to be explained away as the sections you normally won't see (Storage, Bathrooms, etc).

So here's the new Storefront:

All the other rooms (Work and Office) will be rectangular, and thus, easy to make.  That leaves me with Endy's apartment:

This was a floorplan I found on a google image search that I was going to use.  I can't really put the entrance where it is, and there won't be a balcony at all. But it gives me an idea of what it should look like.  I might just try to avoid putting Endy's new apartment in this comic, but since we haven't written one of bit of it yet, I'm not sure.  And if I start the comic without making Endy's apartment, I won't have time at all to make it.

So obviously this puts me in a bind.

I also still have to do the following:

1. Inspire me thing for August.  Inspire me thing for Sept (I'm sorry folks, one of those might have to get tossed out.)
2. $35+ Patron sketches for August and Sept (Again, one of those months might need to get tossed, and I really hate doing this to the higher tier patrons).
3. Sept's BT Page (This is my next priority).

I was already crunched for time but the past two weeks have been a nightmare in that:

1. Our fucking apartment building is repainting the building.  They start at 8am and they're clanging, hammering and banging stuff - not to mention making the dogs bark constantly.
2. Our Air Conditioning went out this weekend while it was 90F here and 92% humidity. (And we couldn't open the windows because of the painting). It was hot. It was miserable. I got no work done. I couldn't sleep. That was a full three days of being unproductive and adding to my stress here.

And then because we're sick of the apartment stuff, we found a house we're trying to rent. So that means moving again. But we'll have a yard and be away from the bullshit of apartment living.

Anyway, right now I'm supposed to be working on commissions, but my stress level is super high.  So I'm /still/ working on the Kaerwyn comic even though it's not updating. I'm not leaving you guys high and dry. I just can't start the comic until some of this other stuff is done first. And yeah, it takes time.

Thanks again for making all this possible!

PS: The UV map above was from the display case as seen in the screenshots. I had to redo that from scratch because I could not get the UV map to work out for me.

I need more time.

That UV map got my blood pressure up... I hate when Blender goes stupid like that. :D I'm sorry to hear of your woes with the scene building. I take it adjusting the camera lens didn't give you the results you were hoping for? (A fisheye would definately give you a much wider view, but the curved surfaces might make things harder to work with...)
