What have Endy and Niixa been but 'boxes' themselves, hiding their Draekon spirits - a box that in Niixa's case, was working extremely well for a long time? So if banishing them offworld doesn't work, and arranging their deaths doesn't work, what's the other alternative? Hiding them in boxes of their own. Endy's box appears to be *himself* - most likely, an alternate version of himself in another plane whose life mirrors our Endy's as a university teacher, had he not been brought to Kaerwyn in the first place.

2021-08-01 11:30:58 +0000 UTCI had a feeling something was amiss the moment the opening monologue claimed 'a few weeks since the Reklar incident', since that didn't seem to line up with everything since. As well as many, many other reasons - the dragons are able to prat about with both space and time - it would imply that the town is a near-constant threat of extinction from within and without which would reduce everyone in it to a gibbering wreck, and it would have had to have large chunks of it repaired or rebuilt twice since then. That's not happening in 'a few weeks'. And I never realised it until this page, but we were never told how much time had elapsed in Kaerwyn while Endy was dead and buried on Reklar, but *only* Gruff ever reacted to Endy and Niixa's return as though they should have been missing for an extended length of time.

2021-08-01 01:30:33 +0000 UTCI suspect those were 'memories' and this is the 'dream' or altered reality, and we're entering the chapter in medias res after he's been here a while. I don't think the alarm clock has been seen before as a Kaerwyn device.
