It's been almost a month since the last comic page was posted and I'm ashamed to say that I am no where near ready to start the next issue.
Let me go into why this is. Originally we had intended for Issue 19 to pick up right where we left off, from the Baytown simulation into (hopefully) the final acts of the Sisarian arc. Based on reader comments, especially from you guys - who I consider to be those who seem to be paying the most attention and the least confused - we have decided to make Issue 19 something different entirely.
You see we were working on the original Issue 19 while Issue 18 was updating. This was being done as far back as when Issue 18 started. So when we decided to switch gears, that put us WELL BEHIND where we would like.
Issue 19, and I think it's okay to tell you this, will be about the past - the Dragon and Draekon issue. It will explain a lot of the questions that people had about the Dragons and the Raekartan Draekon. There is a philosophy in storytelling that is "Show, don't tell". This might seem confusing from the reader point of view but let me go into a little bit (It's also a philosphy we prefer on the Kaerwyn RP). More information about this is found here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Show,_don%27t_tell.
"Show, don't tell is a technique used in various kinds of texts to allow the reader to experience the story through action, words, thoughts, senses, and feelings rather than through the author's exposition, summarization, and description."
So far, most of what you've seen about the Dragons/Draekon is what's being "told" to you and the characters such as Endymion and Niixa. We have "Shown" a little bit here and there in some panels but not much. And we realized that in trying to answer the questions that readers had, we would require a lot of "telling" and very little "showing" except in flashbacks and the like.
In order to "Show" and "not tell" about the Dragons and Raekartan Draekon, we need to do an entire issue about what happened between them. And that is what Issue 19 will be. But because we usually start working on the next issue really far back, and only just started this a couple of weeks ago, we are well behind. I don't intend to take too long on this, and I'm working my ass off trying to get it ready in time. But since you guys are the reason the comic exists, I do not want to displease you with a lack of updates. I can't show you much of what's going on behind the scenes because we're still writing the basic storyline.
But the good news is, when we get to Issue 20, we have a lot of the groundwork already set for it, we'll still need our month off between issues to get certain assets ready like whatever 3d builds we might need (Something I don't really need that much for currently planned Issue 19).
But I did just want to take the time to update you guys and let you know what's in the works.
Also on this post I have included some of my minicomics from "The Delta Project" which is a transformation anthology project I'm working on (that is also Patreon supported). This one was from February 2020 and it also includes some Dragons (They are not related at all to the Dragons in the Kaerwyn comic). I intend to post these publicly soon but I thought I'd let you guys see them first.
