[Vacuulus Dev Log 04] The Vacuum Man

One night, when I was around 7-8 years old, and calmly drifting off to sleep, my brain decided that I had had it too good for too long. It was time to put me through an absolutely terrifying dream that I would go on to remember for what is going to be the rest of my life.

In my dream, there I was, little 8 year old Dylan, in my living room, just hanging out doing my Dylan things. Suddenly a figure busts open my front door, it's a very scary looking fellow in a torn up robe (resembling something like a more unpleasant looking Tusken Raider from Star Wars), and he had a vacuum, but it was a vacuum meant for people. And he was here for me, and anybody I held dear.

He started by vacuuming up my mom, while hearing her and the rest of my family scream, I panic and decide to run to my parent's bathroom within their bedroom, which was a total dead end. I hide there, though for some reason, I didn't close or lock any of the doors along the way.

The chilling sound of hearing my family get vacuumed through the walls was all I could focus on. I sat there in the corner of the bathroom just waiting to be found at this point. Eventually the screams stopped. My family was gone.

As I sat there on the floor in the corner of the bathroom looking at the door through my fingers on my face, I hear the ambient sound of the vacuum creeping closer and closer, until the point that it was without question -- VERY close to me...

And then the creature's head suddenly pops around the corner to look at me, and the vacuum revs up.

I wake up, a changed boy. LOL

Granted I am still a slob, I WAS changed, but in the way that I learned what it would be like to live in what was probably one of the most terrifying situations my mind could conjure, and it has stuck with me ever since.

So yes, I literally kid you not, the idea of the Vacuum Man came from a dream I had when I was 8 years old, and now here it is, made manifest so that you all may experience the terror as well.

Above is a small timeline of his designs and concepts, you can see some Tusken Raider inspired qualities ended up sticking.
