2022-02-21 09:50:49 +0000 UTCIn Alaska, the law says if a convicted predator owns the home, he/she can remain at a residence, even if by a school. For example, I knew there was a register child sex offender across from my sons Elementary school. I never let him walk home, which would be right in front of the offenders home. One day, I was driving to pick up my son at school and had to stop for the crossing guard to let kids across. I saw the offender standing behind his garbage can on the side of his house. The offender was talking to a kid who was walking up the driveway towards the offender. I got out of the car, and I told the kid to get away from that man. I asked the kid do you know this man, to which the kid replied no. I sent the kid off and I yelled over to the crossing guard to come over, explain the situation and to call the police. The offender had run back into his house during that time. I called the Anchorage Police Department, and they said he’s allowed to live there because he owns the home. That they would send officers over to speak with him. I informed the principal of what I witnessed, along with the crossing guard. An email went out to all the parents, and it was also posted in the newsletter later that week. Shit pisses me off!
