With this lesson I want to bring you all closer to one of the possible approaches on painting Leather. But also, I would like to bring you all closer to the following techniques described in this lesson.

Wet Blending.

This is one way of wet blending colors & transitions directly on the model. In this lesson, I am creating a texturized surface.

Overlapping Layers.

In this lesson you can follow my process on overlapping layers, in texture. How it reacts in it's use as a thin layer, and how it defines in it's use as a thick layer.

Follow CLOSE UPS on layer brushstroke leaving bristle, mixing and drying on the model surface.

Building Volumes.

Learn how I use colors to create Highlight, Midtone & Shades Values for the Volume definitions. Learn more about Color Variations & Values, as well as how to use them correctly.

Definition layers.

Learn how to define final details. How to add character and more storytelling to your painting, for more unique artworks.

Comments

What a joy to watch! First of all, the final result is beyond expectations, i mean, i didn't expect leather to be beautiful rich, deep and exquisite. It's breathless and you made it simple and accessible. Watching you paint just made me want to do a lot of experiments. I love what that rabbit is slowly becoming.
