The End of Clown Corps
Added 2025-09-04 19:46:52 +0000 UTCChapter seven of Clown Corps will be the last one! It'll basically be a full-length graphic novel, so you don't have to worry about a rushed ending or anything, but it's all one storyline so I'm calling it chapter seven.
Speaking of longer-than-usual chapters, chapter six will need another couple months to get through its longer-than-usual denouement. Then the comic will be taking a longer-than-usual hiatus. Maybe it's obvious why, but I'm still gonna do that thing where I weep and grovel and try to explain myself.
Since chapter seven is the last one, I'd like it to be the best one, so I want to make sure I'm prepared. I'm haunted by the number of times I had to design a character on the spot or failed to punch up a joke because I left everything to the last minute. Now I want to go in with some idea what I'm trying to accomplish. Intention before invention. I'm talkin' character model sheets, environment designs, maybe even a [gasp] script that's anywhere close to finished?????
The other big reason for the hiatus is that I'm burned out on clowns, man. I want to return to clowns psyched out of my mind to draw clowns. Right now I'm like "ugh, clowns." I've got a long list of other comics I've been wanting to work on, little things I could maybe print and sell. And when's the last time I posted some dumbass shit like "Frasier meets Sonic" or whatever? Such souls can never cross paths if I'm spending all my free time color flatting clown comics.
Of course, all the fun surprises I'll be working on during hiatus will be posted here on patreon before they're posted anywhere else. And some things may not be posted anywhere else. There are reasons to be subscribed to the patreon, is what I'm getting at. Apologies if I'm being too subtle.
I'm not gonna set exact dates yet, but for now let's say Clown Corps will begin its final chapter sometime in 2026. Honestly it feels bold to be making any sort of plans for the future, considering All The Stuff Going On. We'll just have to sit back, put on some music, and smoke a big bowl of "wait and see."
As always and ever, thanks for reading!

yeah I love the clowns but the thing that got me here was the Columbo Fraiser comic and I'd never say no to more <3

It's a bit scary seeing the ending on the horizon, but you're a master of your craft (I mean that as pretentiously and sincerely as possible) and I trust that you're doing what makes for the best possible version of the comic. Here's to [however long it takes for chapter 7 to finish]!
