update on the future
Added 2022-09-14 00:37:13 +0000 UTCHey everyone! Just a text post today, but since I've been locking this in a little more, I wanted to post an update for patrons about my current plans for the future of matchmaker!
This will all shift and fluctuate, but my current plans are that after this volume, Volume 6 will be the last set of Matchmaker comic strips before this story comes to a close. It's been absolutely incredible the way people have enjoyed this thing that started as a stupid little thing to make my friends and I smile. I don't think I've had a more uplifting experience in my whole time creating things, and after working in the animation industry for 2 years I really needed a reminder that art was something that could be fun and rewarding. Thank you all!
Around vol. 3 when I took a shot at writing a more genuine romance story, I started to feel like it was a half way point. I've never had a big picture plan for this webcomic but I felt like "this is about half way done" and as I've gotten further through I feel like that instinct was right. I'm really happy with every strip I've made so far, and being able to slowly slip back into being a person who makes comics has been an incredible experience. I never wanted to drag it out! BUT I'm not ready to say goodbye to it yet, so here's my current plan:
Volume 6 will be the end of individual comic strips every few days, and the end of the story as it's existed so far. I hope it'll be a good farewell to the matchmaker you've all been reading!
After a healthy (probably pretty long) break, I'm going to tell new matchmaker stories as chapters every month or two! Going full crazy mode into ripping off my favourite romcom manga instead of keeping the comic as individual strips with punchlines! I'll be moving from square pages to more comic shaped ones, and each chapter will come out as a batch like all the manga I like reading :) I don't know exactly what it'll be like yet, but I'm excited to find out!
My favourite slice of life stories all follow characters through different phases of their lives, and some are like 20 long volumes so I figured this would be a good way to make sure things stay exciting and interesting for myself and it's readers, without saying goodbye to the story I've loved so much! It's a big change and I imagine some readers will be happy with the comic strip ending and move on. That's ok! There might be people who prefer these new stories and format, and either way I think the comic will be better for me chasing something new with it. Thank you for reading my rambling, and I hope you all enjoy these last two volumes before I try something new. Thank you for your support that makes doing comics in my spare time a thing I can do 💜 If you have any questions please ask!

I’m glad it can help other people too 💕
