Flying Saucer Video Chapter 1 - Unused pages, wip sketches

Hey!! I had a lot of trouble wrapping up this chapter. I’m not very good at planning ahead, which can be both good and bad for my comics. This chapter originally had a different ending, with Franky and Duncan having a platonic-ish movie night sleepover! It was really cute and I want to use a version of the scene later on, but it just wasn’t coming together as an ending to our first little story so I had to kill my darling 😔

Here’s the 3 pages that got to a readable state, with one completely finished (plan ahead people, dont waste time like me!!) I’m still happy with these pages and actually like them a little better than the ones I ended up with, but the ones that got posted are better to the story and set up a thematic starting point for franky that I’m excited to explore.

I also wanted to share my sketches for the last few pages, since I’ve had some questions about my process! I tend to go pretty straight onto the page without too much of a thumbnail these days (again, I’m bad at planning!) for the bottom panels of the last two pages, I roughly referenced csp 3d models because I wanted to get the poses just right for Franky’s moody thought process. I hope these are interesting to see!

During the small break between chapters I’m going to try to get better at plotting out my stories, and working all this stuff out before getting to the actual drawing stage, because I’ve never had it bite me in the butt and eat up so much time before. This was a huge learning experience on how I need to refine the way I work to make this project successful!
