Guys you have to look at motivations.....why Stefan pursues Elena? She looks like Katherine. What is the connection? He keeps her picture in his bedroom and stares at her every time he sees Elena, so Elena is a reminder of her. Why Damon is in town? He tried to create problems for his brother. Why? The scene in their house with Elena is a big clue. Stefan is trying to start a relationship with Elena, base on lies, he has no intention to tell her he is a vampire. Elena is seventeen, from a very small town where the dating pool is very limited, here it comes a very good looking guy, mysterious, new in town, with a big house, and he looks very much into her. Obviously she is falling fast and her trusting natures, typical of people her age make her not doubting her luck. Enter Damon. He know his brother and what he is doing with Elena, so he is giving Elena all the warning signs to ask more and not to be so naive, because his brother is not what she think he is. So, both of them are manipulating Elena, Stefan to seduce her, Damon to warn her. Stefan was so fuming because Damon by talking about Katherine , and their pictures and films that would expose their age, and by kissing her hand old fashion way is telling Elena to start to ask questions. Damon: “are you scared that we are doomed to repeat the past? Is that why you are playing the little game ‘I am a high school human’?” Stefan “I am not playing any game” Damon: “of course you do” because he does. He compelled the school officer to be accepted as student, and he is going to the same class with Elena, insert himself in her circle and she has no clue, she thinks he is a high school boy, and he doesn’t want Damon to expose his game. Things are not what they seem, and you have to pay lots of attention to the dialogues, to motivations, to the body language that most of the time is contradictory to the dialogue. TVD is an exercise for your critical thinking level, and how fast you judge a book by his cover without knowing it’s content, how easily you get manipulated by appearances of good and bad. Keep your mind open.

what Sophie asked at like 12:11 asking if the vampires can manipulate you , yes it’s called “mind compulsion” ! also when Sophie asked how they’re able to control themselves around fresh blood, Stefan feeds on animals rather than human blood which makes him weaker than Damon as well as his age because he’s younger, & Damon feeds on regular people but they don’t walk around hungry all the time further into the season they go into explain how they’re able had to teach themselves about control and how it took a long time
