This play was, indeed, AMAZING! Lmao Yes, Cassie is trying to look like Maddy because she's trying to be Nate's "perfect girl". We first see this a few episodes ago when Cassie shows up to school with hair & makeup identical to Maddy. Then, in this episode, we even see early on when Cassie & Nate walk by Maddy and Kat in the hallway and Maddy says "well she certainly looks the part" because Cassie's outfit & makeup was Maddy's style. Then we see the scenes of Cassie & Nate, where he is dressing her up and then her telling him he can control everything she wears etc. (personally, I also think her makeup look is influenced by Jules as well because Jules and Maddy have similar makeup styles & we know Nate has feelings for Jules). Also, regarding Rue's mom, I'm more aligned with Mair here. I don't think Leslie was wrong for saying that to Rue, sometimes the truth hurts. You have to try and think about things from Leslie's perspective. Her husband died and left her with two young daughters (one who is already doing drugs) and struggling financially (in the beginning of the episode Leslie says that he didn't have much life insurance & she'll have to "figure it out" when it comes to keeping paying bills). She has since spent years struggling to make ends meet financially, and helping Rue battle her own sickness/addiction. Meanwhile, Rue continues to disregard the help, continues to choose drugs, continues to lie, continues to get aggressive and violent, continues to try and kill herself. And through it all, Leslie has tried to stay strong -- constantly picking Rue back up, spending her nights crying over Rue, trying to get Rue back into rehab even though she can't afford it, literally wiping Rue's butt during her withdrawal diarrhea etc. Meanwhile, she sees everything is starting to negatively impact Gia. Now Gia is failing classes, getting in trouble at school, smoking weed, growing distant etc. Leslie is at a point where she realizes there is literally nothing more that she can do to help Rue if Rue doesn't want to get better. Leslie realizes that if she continues to pour all of her energy into Rue then things with Gia will only get worse and she refuses to let Gia ruin her life the same way Rue has chosen to. It's easy to think that, as her mom, Leslie should continue to fight tooth & nail for Rue's sobriety, but you can't blame her for feeling like it's a lost cause and letting Rue know that she's setting a boundary. That boundary = "I'm no longer going to fight with you. I'm no longer going to let you emotionally control me or physically abuse me. I'm no longer going to let you take my attention away from my other daughter who is hurting in silence." -- sorry, I got real passionate here lol. I just feel so much empathy for Leslie and I know it took a lot for her to get to this point with Rue where she finally tells her "I'm done" -- I wish we would've gotten an episode from her POV.

Cassie is dressing and doing her makeup like Maddie because of the scene where Nate is literally dressing her up like a doll to look like Maddie and putting on the same necklace. He doesn't love Cassie, she's just a prop for him. Notice how when Cassie got up, Nate didn't follow her or care, but when he got up she ran after him. That mirror scene too was so eerie, where she's trying to fake being happy. Hope you guys react to the last episode soon!

Maddie cared way more about her friendship with Cassie than she did about her relationship with Nate because she already knows what to expect from Nate. That's why being betrayed by her best friend hits harder than being betrayed by her boyfriend or ex boyfriend. I remember thinking Maddie was going to literally fight Cassie during that scene but I love how they showed that she was actually way more hurt than she was angry. And I don't think Maddie would have ever done anything like that either, which makes it worse. She was a real best friend to Cassie, and Cassie literally ruined their friendship for Nate.

Ethan acting like rent was due when he was doing this play.

I have an unpopular opinion about the comment Nate at the end of the episode about that locker room scene of the play before homophobic (it was) and also disagree with the opinion people say about how nobody would have known it was about Nate if he didn’t walk out because let’s not be obtuse everybody knew it was about Nate🤷🏽‍♀️.
