2025-08-29 07:20:43 +0000 UTCThe fact that Stefan was hidings Katherine from Elena speaks volumes about how he still had mixed feelings toward both Katherine and Elena because he even didn’t know how he really felt about Elena. If he had been 100 percent sure that his feelings for Elena had nothing to do with Katherine and he had already sorted out his feelings before sleeping with her, He wouldn’t have had any reason to hide it from Elena, he could’ve been straight with her from the beginnings and told her the truth and but he didn’t and that showed that he was still stuck in the past and was disappointed by how things went down the first time so he found the new opportunity with Elena to rewrite his love story but this time controlling every aspect of the relationship so it goes in a direction he wanted and he won’t be disappointed again. We know that Stefan was drown to Elena because she looks like Katherine, she was a HUMAN who looks like Katherine. When Stefan fell in love with Katherine it was before he knew anything about her vampirism so when he found out who she really was, everything was ruined and he lost a lot as the result of that so when he saw Elena, he found a new opportunity to rewrite his past also Being in the relationship with a human gave Stefan a perfect opportunity to deny his vampire side and pretend to be human as much as possible because Stefan never planed on telling her about vampires, Elena found it out herself. He admitted to Lexi that whenever he's with Elena, he completely forgot WHAT he is, he was referring to his vampirism. Damon has waited for 150 years so he could finally rescue the love of his life, Damon knew that Katherine was still alive so it makes sense why he stayed comitted to her all these years but to Stefan, Katherine was supposed to be dead so the fact that after 150 years he was still not able to get over her death and the moment he saw someone who looks like her, he jumped at the chance to insert himself in to her life with the actual intention of dating her can not be ignored. This only shows that he's in huge denial because he cannot claim that his feelings for Elena has nothing to do with Katherine when he's the one who's keeping the picture of her all these years in his room, the place "he only keeps the memories he thinks are important enough to hold on to" as he himself said in the previous episode.

2025-08-28 11:20:51 +0000 UTCSomething you should know is that Stefan is a master manipulator and his manipulation tendencies reaches to its peek when ever he feels like he's losing control of the situation. This is exactly how a manipulative partner would act when ever they get in trouble. Stafan was holding valuable information so he could use it at the right time, the time when he needs those information to either defend himself or escape from eccusation. He was never honest with Elena, first he didn’t tell her that he was a vampire, Elena found it out herself, he didn’t tell her that she looks like Katherine, again she found Katherine's picture herself, now that he is about to lose Elena, he is willing to do anything even using manipulation on her so she wouldn’t leave him. First he is making her even feel guilty for being mad at him because he was the one who saved her, triggering her gratitude respons to ease her anger, she now owes her life to him and then he dropped a huge bomb on Elena that she is adopted, completely changed the subject and made her forget why she was even mad at him in the first place and instead made her feel appreciation towards him like he is her hero. People who don’t have enough experience with manipulation can not understand how skill-fully Stefan is using different kind of methods of manipulation on Elena in this scene, even the body language he’s using is manipulative. He’s trying to gain sympathy from Elena and even from the audience. The way he’s lowering his head and look down, pulling all part of his body in to a center and in a tight position, he’s like a little child who’s trying to defend himself and prove his innocence. The same body language he's been using this entire time whenever Elena has questioned him about his lies. Not to mention by bringing up the accident and explaining to her what exactly happened that night that his father was still conscious but he sacrificed himself for his daughter, that made Elena’s survival guilt even worse, thinking his father could’ve survived but she did instead of him. That put her even in a more fragile state, Making it so much easier for her to fall in to Stefan’s manipulation trap. He's literally saying that he stalked her for 3 months which is very creepy and a huge red flag but Elena is in a very vulnerable place right now and she can’t see the signs and Stefan used this vulnerability to his advantage. Another thing is that by telling her the secret that even her family was hiding from her, he put himself in a very trustworthy position for her, he’s telling her the truth that even her closest family didn’t. This was the build of the illusion of trust between them, keeping their relationship on a shallow level but giving it the illusion of a deep and honest relationship. Amazing writing, so many people missed this about this episode especially if you have little experience with manipulation and I love Stefan as a character, I love his character because of its complexity, he is not just a "good guy" who can do no wrong, he has depth, there’s more to Stefan that meets the eyes.
