Katherine was selfish and wanted to toy around with them (like she admitted in the last episode). They were like her play things. Elena loves Stefan, but she cares about Damon because she's a good person, and unlike Katherine she tries to keep her word. That's the only reason she wants to get Damon out of there. She's not doing it for selfish reasons like Katherine would, but out of honesty and integrity.

Yes he did make that promise to Emily not to harm them because he was killing a lot of people because he needed something from the Bennett witches. The Shelia anger is justified because he walked on that porch, entitled to their services or their power. Everything that happened in that town is Damon‘s fault.

I agree with Mair's point of view, which is that it's either no one's fault or everyone's fault. Being that everyone made certain choices that led to what happened. This situation isn't as simple as, for example, Stefan pushed the jar off the table and the jar shattered, so it's Stefan's fault. Many different people were involved in everything that happened in the last 14 episodes. Meaning many different emotions, plans, scenes, and accidents were created.

2025-09-12 07:44:01 +0000 UTCDamon knew that Bonnie was a witch because he saved, look after, an protected over the years, the entire Bennet line, he promises to Emily to protect her family so he did, e would have never hurt any of the Bennet witch, if it wasn't for Emily betray him. Bonnie and her grandma exist only because of Damon. The grandma rage with Damon is unjustified, she exist thank to him. But the witches are no angels too, they too can be wrong and probably feeding grandma stories that are only their side of the story, forgetting to mention what Damon did for them. But is correct if Stefan didn't pursued Elena things would have gone differently; Damon would have had the crystal and plenty of witches to help him. Sophie sai something absolutely true, Damon wants only to be loved, that is his motivation. Grandma death is again a choice, she made the choice to help, Bonnie pressured her to save Stefan and she agreed. They brought down the seal but they weren't strong enough to put it up again. Another brilliant statement "Elena is Katherine 2,0" There is a very clever way for the writers to put mirrors in the show, they will put some more later on. The mirror is a way to explore different polar opposite life choices in similar circumstances, and how those choices effect characters differently. Elena and Katherine are polar opposite mirror, one is selfish one is compassionate, one kept the brothers to divide them to exercise power on them, one care about them both and want to love one an be friend with the other because Elena has a formidable skill, can read people very well and she can sense that Damon act the way he does out of pain, and that he needed to be hugged and need someone that cares about him. She is keeping the brother close to her not to take advantage of them like Katherine, but to built a family with them.

Even a random guard became obessessed with Katherine and ended up freeing her years ago lmaooo. Genuinely felt bad for Damon though : ( So I truly can't point fingers or play the blame game at this point in the story😭 It's all one big mess loll

He got with Caroline in order to get into the Founder’s Party and steal the necklace. He would’ve known Bonnie is a witch because he knows the Bennetts are witches because he swore to Emily to protect that entire bloodline. And given how small the town is, Damon still would’ve met Elena. The only thing that probably wouldn’t have happened is Vicky dying. But Sophie is right in saying Stefan and Elena’s relationship started with a huge lie.
