Alaric saved Damon and Alaric wouldn’t have been there if he didn’t think Elena was there. So she helped. Also Damon helped, he helped Jeremy find peace, focus on his studies, drop the drugs etc… Damon wasn’t supposed to compel Jeremy to forget Vikki entirely just the vamp stuff and to take away his pain. But then Anna comes along talking about vampires and Jeremy remembers how Vikki was acting.

sophie at 23:55 imitation of elena is killing meee 😭

Amia

I recommend watching shameless!

Ok, one thing you need to know is that the psychology of the characters in this show have been written ingeniously. The characters don’t have flaws just for the sake of it, there’s always a deep psychological reason behind every behaviour. Elena is actually the most complex and realistic female character in the show and she’s the most misunderstood character in the fandom. Elena is suffering from survival guilt and the person with survival guilt has this irrational guilt that they don’t deserve to live and they’re not worthy of living, so as the result they’re very reckless about their life and they would constantly put themselves in dangerous situations, hoping if they died and sacrificed themselves for their loved ones, they could finally redeem themselves. This is Elena’s biggest flaw that interferes with so many of her decisions which herself is not even aware of. Not everyone develops a survival guilt after experiencing a traumatic event, the chance is higher for people who are naturally more empathic and compassionate and we saw how Elena has proven herself as the most compassionate character in the show so it was very likely for her to develop survival guilt.

Mnewmoon

In addtion to her fierce bravery, her compassion , her wanting to keep everybody se loves safe, Elena suffer from survivior guilt, it is very obvious, that is why she values her life very little and she is a bit of a death seeker.

Deadass😭😭

Also, Damon did compel Jeremy to believe that Vicki left town, and took away his suffering. But after Jeremy started getting into the vampire lore and figured out that Anna was a vampire, he noticed that there were inconstancies in what he was told, and that made him believe there's a possibility that Vicki actually became a vampire. For example even with Caroline, she's compelled not to remember what Damon did to her but she still has a bad feeling about him and feels like there's something off, so Jeremy was just using his intuition to put the pieces together.

Yules

Nah you guys have to give Elena some credit because 1) she is fearless for going into that house full of vampires and 2) since she's not affected by vervain she was able to untie Stefanand free him so she definitely helped out. That's why Damon asked her to untie the rope, because he couldn't do it without getting hurt.

Yules

Elena most definitely doesn't want to be a vampire. As of now, her values are about being a good person, and she values humanity. She'd never want to be put in a position where she'd have to kill somebody in order to survive or to crave blood. That may or may not change later on in the show but as of now her character is about saving people, sacrificing herself, and not being part of any more death.

YESSSSS ! I love this

Ashley Cruz

Exactly , which is all Damon tried to help him do , LEARN TO CONTROL

Ashley Cruz

Stefan is like an alcoholic working in a whisky factory, he is pretending to be human but he is not, living among humans, the food of vampires, he went cold turkey, instead of learning how to cope with the blood hunger, so he is like a ticking bomb pretending to be a clock. The fact that he doesn't want to acknowledge the reality of his life, made Elena thinking that that is the reality of being a vampire, an she had a reality check with Stefan being himself as a vampire, he is scary, as any suppressed impulse suppressed for that long, it will surface in a mighty blast, uncontrollably because you haven't learn to live with it and accept the reality of it's existence. He gave those advise to Vicky on how to hunger feels like and how to cope with it, but he didn't take his own advises, learn how to live with it on a daily bases. Avoiding to face something is not copinig with it, it is just postpone the inevitability of having to face the reality of it.

Patpet

In regard to Elena, the show as usual is never simple, you have to understand that she clearly suffer from survivor guilt that make her value her own life very little, she is unconsciously a bit of death seeker. She isn't stupid at all, she is very smart, but because she is the sole survivor of her parent’s incident and Stefan letting her knows that her father died to save, made it worse, trigger her guilt to have survived. That is why she has no hesitation to risk recklessly her life because she value her own life very little, surely worth losing to save her loved ones, as she couldn't save her parents thinking she wasn't supposed to survive them, her subconscious tell her she must use her life to save the people she loves.

Patpet

Damon only made him forget that Elena told him to do, made him forget that Vicky is dead and how she died, compultion desn't made you forget everything that evere happened, made you ONLY orget what the person told you specifically to forget. Damon wasn't there when things happened with VIcky and Jeremy, how could Damon knew? Do not find excuses to blame Damon of things he didn't do, he couldn't have known. Damon is not a piece of shit, let's not find excuses to amake Damon character negative, because he is not, and alienate 90% of TVD fandom if you say you want to grow. Damon saved Stefan's life for the second time. As you can see he loves his brother. He has a purpose in te show he is the action man, that one that does things nobody would do, like kill the house owner, to make things happen, or tell Alaric that Pearl knows about his wife. That was a way to get Stefan out an he didn't hesitate to make it happen no matter what. That is Damon character., he get things done, he get from a to b with no hesitation.

Patpet

Cosplaying as Katherine would absolutely not work lmao they’d be able to hear the blood rushing through her veins with their vamp hearing

ParkMinJeon

Season finale is coming!!

Kim Cottingham

it's defenitly more than just "some caring feelings", Damon litterly risked his life in this episode to get Stefan out and he was ready to face Pearl herself because at first he thought that it was Pearl who kidnapped Stefan. It's obvious that Damon loves his little brother doesn't matter how much he pretends he doesn't.

Mnewmoon

Top 3 characters of the show in my opinion (excluding my boy) Damon Caroline Bonnie 💪🏾 Can’t wait til ya’ll see the character development of my team 😩 so many laughs so many tears so many gasp 😱

*Please, let's all remember to be careful and relax on little hints or spoilers in the comment section*🙏

Damon indeed erased Jeremy's memory of the event, making him believe that Vicki had only left town and that it was for the best. She was officially deemed 'missing' by police as well. BUT, when Jeremey found out what Anna was, he believed Vicki was a vampire too and that was why she 'left'. The compulsion was focused on the event of Vicki's death (cause it traumatized tf outta him), not on her entire existence💯 Jeremy also expresses that he feels like there's "something missing," like a "hole". Which also led to him becoming obsessed with vampire research afterwards, lmao. It was a domino effect.

candii🍎

Btw Damon snapped that lady's neck because she was the owner of the house. If the owner's dead, then you don't need an invitation to get in...so that's why he asked her if there's anyone else who lives there, to confirm that she's in fact the owner

ashley kuate

Jeremy's compulsion is still working.

Kim Cottingham

So glad you are enjoying this Sophie. But Mair too. Season 2 is so unbelievably awesome. The plot lines next season are wild. In a great way. Never seen a show (next season) that can end on twists/jaw dropping in every episode

Kim Cottingham

for your information on the whole jeremy compelling thing bc yall have brought this up a few times. 1. damon did successfully compel jeremy, he also said in a later episode when elena questioned damon as to why jeremy was suddenly studying again, that when he compelled jeremy to forget, he also compelled him to be a better student to help out elena/their aunt. 2. jeremy theorized that vicki was a vampire, he never knew for sure she was one, and mentions his reasoning in a previous episode. he says AFTER he finds out that anna’s a vampire and writing the gilbert essay that that the town blames a lot of vampire related things on animal attacks. he knew from damon’s compulsion that vicki was attacked by an animal (that’s why jeremy’s ripping up newspapers of the animal attacks in this ep) but that she disappeared after. so all jeremy knew at that point before her death confirmation was that she was bit by a vampire and then disappeared, but never died. so that’s why jeremy theorized that vicki is a vampire.

Km

Elena thinking she was gonna run into a house full of vamps undetected is a level of stupidity beyond anyone's comprehension

Paynekiller96

NOWW THIS Is the final leg of season 1 and it’s chefs kiss 😉

Jasmine Reigns

I don’t think he was compelled to feel at peace with his parent’s death. He was only compelled to forget about Vicki’s death and to be at peace with her moving away. Making peace with the Vicki situation helped him move on from his parents’s death bc the situations were so connected for him. He only believed Vicki was a vampire because Damon didn’t compel away the memories of her in transition.

Halima

Oh we dropping early this week 🍿🫢🔥🔥

thank u next

Compelling does have to be very specific. If Damon told Jeremy to forget everything that happened and “took away his suffering” - he basically created a fantasy situation in Jeremy’s head. He even compelled him to feel at peace about his parent’s death which is how he was able to move on so fast. But just bc he was compelled to forget doesn’t mean he’s incapable of putting the pieces together later on. Think about it. He read journals, newspapers, & saw Anna’s face change. It’s not a large leap to conclude Vicky was probably a vampire

Montae Williams

Elena was crazy thinking she wouldn’t immediately get packed up in that vampire house but her presence definitely saved both Stefan and Damon’s lives. If she wasn’t there then they wouldn’t have been able to get the vervain ropes off Stefan, he would’ve been alone in the woods and died when Friedrich attacked, and Alaric never would’ve went back to the house to help Damon who was overwhelmed by vampires.

Halima

The Matt/Caroline/Elena situation is so complicated cause even though, yes, Elena and Matt dated, they were also best friends since they were in diapers. Elena was always going to be closer to Matt regardless of whether they dated or not.

Halima

Y’all not ready for Stefan on human blood, these next few episodes leading up to the finale are so good

Halima

Can’t wait to see you guys see a different side of stefan!! 🩸🩸

Nyia

FYI: I had Netflix back in 1998 when they used to MAIL DVD’s /VHS to customers. 😭😭😭
