January 2024 Updates

Happy New Year Patrons!

Here are the updates for January:

Ayva Remote now FREE!

If you've been watching Eroscripts you may have already seen this announcement, but if you haven't, I recently decided to drop the $5 subscription fee for Ayva Remote! ๐Ÿ˜Š

This was mainly to alleviate the stress generated by becoming a slave to the profit motive. I also have a desire to build more community. I just want as many people as possible to enjoy my software, and a paywall stopped feeling good.

I want to be transparent and say that some of the reason is also because SLR has announced that they are working on similar remote control technology. I won't say that they "stole my idea"โ€”as teledildonics has been around long before meโ€”I'll just say that the timing for releasing this kind of control is suspicious.

After Ayva Remote was released in August, a representative of SLR asked me "how did you come up with an idea for Ayva?" (see this link). I didn't respond, but what do you know, a few months later they claim to have suddenly made an "engineering breakthrough" with this "Proof of Concept" ๐Ÿ™ƒ).

There was of course zero acknowledgement that this had already been done months prior (by one person working from their bedroom btw ๐Ÿ˜‚), and I admit I felt a little petty about it. Basic ego shit (you can see in that thread I went back and forth with them a little bit on who-done-it-better).

While everything they have demoed so far doesn't seem like it breaks any new ground, in the long run I don't really want to try to compete with a major company. I don't like how it feels. I don't like being overly concerned with making money. I don't like the pressure.... and I'm just *one person.

I just want to build stuff. Relaxed. For fun. Like I always have. And I want people to use it. That's it. Any sort of profit motive needs to be secondary.

I'm guessing whatever remote control tech SLR releases will be behind some kind of paywall and/or exclusive to their cam sites.

Well, my tech will always be the free, community-funded, open alternative that works anywhere.

That feels so, so, so much better to me. Its a model I'll continue bringing into all the software I write.

The Handy Support in Ayva Remote

This was originally something I took on to head off SLR, but it ended up being a really fun project! I had never used The Handy before and there were a number of challenges to overcome to get "good enough" live control.

The Handy only allows sending a target position and the duration it should take to get there. There is also sometimes enormous lag with the way they implemented Bluetooth LE. So I had to come up with an algorithm that essentially predicts the next position based on the velocity of the motion.

I also created a mechanism that detects when the motion is faster than The Handy can handle (pun intended). It calculates the BPM of the motion and enters into an alternating strokes mode, where it attempts to maintain the same BPM, but lowers the range / speed so it can keep up. It will instantly go back into live tracking mode as soon as the speed lowers back to within The Handyโ€™s capabilities.

Check it out!

SR6 Support in Ayva Remote

Iโ€™ve added the SR6 model and created two new modes: Surge and Sway. They allow controlling the respective axis along with stroke. The pitch and roll axes are also updated accordingly so its more organic (these are essentially 3-axis control modes):

Surge:

Sway:

What's in store for 2024?

(Pardon the unintentional rhyme. ๐Ÿ™ƒ)

I have a TON of stuff on my backlog, but I'll just name a few of the big ones:

As always, I really, really appreciate your support ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Looking forward to an awesome 2024.

Happy Stroking!
