I try my luck again with this idea: The mane 6 are sitting together talking about their previous adventures. Twilight jokes about all of her friends being changelings in disguise. None of her friends laugh. Twilight then suddenly notices small irregularities with her friends. The story ends with Rarity asking the hypothetical question if it would be a problem, if they were changelings. There is no reveal if her friends were replaced or not or if they were always changelings to begin with.
