This movie was picked out by one of my monster patrons. There aren't many movies that I dislike but I got to say I didn't care for this one. The predatory undertones is what made me dislike it, kinda just killed the vibe for me (Ajax; The Warriors threatening Mercy). I personally don't think it's necessary to make characters sexually predatory to make them tough or masculine--- as evidenced by many masculine male roles in cinema that achieve toughness and rigidity without it (e.g. Arnold Schwarzenegger). I understand that they are gang members, I get that this is a 70s movie, but what I don't get is why writers make characters like that, let alone the protagonists of a story. I'm not going to even get started on Mercy, she made some illogical decisions that really bothered me as well. Needless to say I was not the biggest fan of how the characters were written. I realize my opinion may be unpopular but that is just me being honest, not my kind of movie. Was cool to see a young David Patrick Kelly and James Remar though, I was digging the 70s/80s vibe, and I liked how all the different gangs had coordinated outfits.
