Busy Month And A Lot To Show For It

Hot Dang!
I don't think I realize exactly how much I got done until I started writing it all up for the patreon post.

First things first, the manuscript for Welcome To Reedsboro: An Exceptionals Sourcebook is done. That's another book finished. A friend explained to me that meant I've written two books in a year, but  I assure you It felt much longer. I keep thinking about that quote from Terry Pratchett about old used book stores being genteel black holes that learned to read and wondering where that puts me as an author. A literary time lord? I could be The Librarian. I wonder what my TARDIS would look like?

I also announced some future projects one small, one medium, one large:

-Protect the Sacred - is a pulp-adventure in the style of Indiana Jones with an injection of cool from pulp’s modern cousins. Use folklore based powers to protect, preserve, and reclaim magic, relics, and monsters on behalf of the people they belong to.

Protect the Sacred is anti-colonial action that seeks to interrogate pulp, challenge racism in academia, and deconstruct the idea of a dungeon while being a mind-bending fast-paced action-adventure.  Dare to ask the question "How Ethical is 'It belongs in a museum?"

It seeks to be a game that encourages folk to think about their own connections to culture and stories (on their own terms) through storytelling, recontextualization, meditation, and just being cool. It's about stories as living things and living culture as something worth preserving.

This is the sort of game where a Rabbi, the Wielder of Hou Yi’s bow, The Mothman, a Slasher Final Girl, and a Sailor blessed by Agwé can save the world and fight the British Museum (who are a collection of condescending hermetic wizards sometimes)

Delve deep into other-space dungeons formed by spiritual sickness and reclaim what’s yours. You're going to see a lot of this one soon.

-Brave_Heart is a narrative-focused ttrpg game inspired by digimon about childhood emotional journeys and aims to be accessible to kids with a lightweight system that encourages creativity and embracing parts of yourself.

Explore tech-based otherworlds and learn to come into your own with a monster that’s your best friend and will always be there for you.

-Friday Night Event is a small fast-paced improv party game for a group of 3 or more friends. Take on the role of wrestling announcers trying to commentate on weird matches and score points in this customizable experience.

I'm almost done with that last one. Welcome to Reedsboro needs to go through some editing first, but I plan to lay out it and Friday Night  Event at the same time.

Speaking of;
You'll be able to watch me do just that soon. Part of what I did this month is set-up a new tumblr and twitch. I really want to do game design and research streams and talk directly about my process and games that interest me as well.

I'll give you this months previews later this month. How about the rest of the new protocols?
