Sooo... make this a thing? Love me some musical movies, old and new.

Christina Moxon

Thank you for offering this for free! I appreciate in-depth reactions to this movie which is not just an animation, but has real depth and could change loves with it. Plus the music!! ♥️

1:29:46 for a fun bit of trivia that I wasn’t really aware of it really push things in context if the if you’re working for the emperor basically says you can’t leave the palace and so while jino got in war music, he couldn’t actually leave and if you pay close attention and keep that in mind, yes he says he abandoned his family, but he’s never smiling when he does so while he blames himself for being selfish, he’s not actually being selfish it’s clear that he wants to bring his family in, but it’s literally being prevented from doing it and being prevented from leaving and joining them and of course, this would make sense to be a twisted truth that the demon Lord would be using to basically keep him under his thumb, but you don’t really understand this text. If you don’t understand that basically inside the emperor palace, the emperor word as a law and he would more than likely be saying to his main entertainer. You’re not allowed to leave you live at the palace. You don’t get to go outside. You’ll get to bring people inside. You are my property

Yes, same! When I saw itwas "free" in the link on YT, ended up deciding to join Patreon. Figured I ought to, if it's worth 2 hours of my time...

Kate

Legit made a patreon account to watch this. Loved your analysis of your idol, which was also my first time seeing one of your videos, and I plan to watch more.

Ava Lopez

I've watched this movie around 15 times, plus all the reaction videos YouTube recommended. I loved this video cause you talked about the music. I'm not a musician at all, but music has always had an effect on me; sometimes it's so overwhelming (positively) that it makes me cry, and that happened with this movie. That image of the hongmoon being formed from the soul of the fans is exactly how I feel listening to music.

Juana Coletti

Wow, finished the whole thing. I could watch infinite musician/singer "reacts to Golden" YT clips, but this was definitely the 1st movie reaction I've ever watched. Your YT channel was also the first that made me want to watch more of THIS type of content, due to the calm and respectful vibes- coupled with informative analysis (the keyboard chord overlays are very nice). Since you asked- have seen the film already and my fav thing about it wasn't the music standalone but the effectiveness of the emotion/lyrics in telling the story. Golden is cool, but my 2nd fav song was definitely "Free", and the most appealing thing overall were the powerful metaphors I found within the whole tale. Rumi's "patterns" could be about anything from trauma to body image, but I saw it as a rejection of accepting literal generational patterns inherited from your family. In the end, it's her bond with her chosen family that wins over the person who raised her to be ashamed, and the love interest literally gets absorbed into a weapon to fight evil. What a cool and beautiful thing. Also, as someone who's been to a Huntrix-level kpop stadium show (if Saja boys are BTS, they *are* basically Blackpink) I loved the gentle fun it pokes at fandoms, and how there is a difference between being brought together by love of art/music and a sort of soul-sucking idolatry. A banger all around.

Sir Hairless

I didn't give up two hours of my day to watch this, you kept me company for two hours while I did what would otherwise have been boring manual labor.

Ansixilus

1:28:00 that’s not just the light, not sure if you have realized it, since I haven’t yet finished the video, but her eyes are a different color bc of one being turned into the eye of a demon (ah ok so I have a MASSIVE tendency to speak too soon)

Raptor

Here I am weeks later watching this again.

jewelcrystal

57 times? :-P

Norman Rasmussen

I’m not sure if you’ve realized this yet, but no, they’re not always there. You can see this whenever jinu and rumi sings free and holds hands, with patterns showing up on her hands. However, afterwards they’re no longer there

Raptor

There are two versions. One by Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami as Huntrix and the other (end credits version) performed by Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung of Twice.

Norman Rasmussen

"Takedown" was actaully made by TWICE

Powermaster683

My 5 yr old autistic son is fascinated by the songs, sure it's catchy but he rewinds and listens ad nauseam 😂 your deep dive gave me insight into why, I think the blatant engineering of the perfect catchy songs also are incidentally very mathematically pleasing to him. So, thanks from Indiana, USA (don't hold it against me) 🫡

Chris Hutchison-Bailey

Finished all of it now, found your reaction very interesting!;) All the best to ya man!:D

Tord Laurhammer

Just a tiny thing on you not believing that they wouldn't have seen her patterns aha, you kinda looked away at that point, but they showed that Rumi used her own changing room, so one can assume that's been a constant!:)

Tord Laurhammer

Thirteen has got to be a world record 👀 🤯

Sir Hairless

This was fun. I (29) have now watched this movies 13 Times. And 13 is my lucky number. So Sir hairless i guess you are now lucky too😂 since i watched IT the 13th time with you lol. Love watching reactions to Things i enjoy and Hearing new theories or Things one have noticed and i have missed. Thank you very much

Mica Sorel

So the vocal trio that sang Golden for this movie appeared live and performed on the Jimmy Fallon show. It may interest you or you may be “Goldened” out. And I can understand that for sure. So many covers/performances of this song and you have already done an analysis of a couple. Not a late night TV watcher but when it popped up on YouTube , I thought it worth listening to. https://youtu.be/8y-ViyUk7Dk?si=-dljOpn-_RQsAquc

Elise

I enjoyed watching this film with you Sir H! 😃 I watched it once when you presented the first song from it with a r/a - this was my second time! 🎬 😊 Thank you for doing this - I've never seen a reaction to a whole movie before....and your enjoyment was obvious too, even without the popcorn 🍿 🤭 Great stuff! 💥💫👌

venetta

Music to me was amazing. EGAE is amazing… singing voice of Rumi…. Trained 10 years as k-pop artist and was aged out with no debut…. Wrote K-pop songs (Pyscho). Here she is writing 3 songs in the top 10…. Idol, How it’s Done and Golden. She talks about how crushed she was and the bridge on Golden is personal… here’s the interview at Grammy Museum. https://youtube.com/shorts/-LderHn3IV8?si=AMNe3HKb1VW_MbR-

Thank you!

So if you know anything about East Asian Mythology, you know of the four guardians beasts -- China, Japan, and Korea have the same myth and imagery but different names. In this centerpiece of myth, you have to have all four to have balance and such. Every group of hunters of have failed because there's 3, and have always been 3. The standing theory [which seems true?] is that Jinu is actually the fourth guardian. Now, Korean culture in general is very superstitious and the number four is cursed -- so much there's never a fourth floor. Another person online put together this amazing idea that through death [sacrifice] of four down to 3, and having had the four guardians at one point [fourth passing his energy and power to the first], they were finally able to restore balance and harmony. They also pointed out this was always the point -- if you watch the movie closely, you'll see various depictions of four in the movie, including a set of mannequins -- 3 female, 1 male -- in some of the night and other town scenes.

Mishalar

so good!

Willyan Wagner

Probably wouldn’t have watched this, but glad I did. Thanks Sir H! I always found it annoying how good songs from movies always omit parts, but it’s a way to garner interest in the official soundtrack. That is the business though I guess. Anyhow, enjoyed a movie night with you Sir H!

Jessica Szempruch

That's the one!

Sir Hairless

The drake song you were searching for (during takedown scene on the tram) is I think Hotline Bling. 👀 I'm not quite sure though but I hope it helped.

Ana Gashi

I'm just surprised the whole "Dies Irae" first section is gone - that's my favourite part! 👀

Sir Hairless

The frequency this movie has been mentioned lately on your channel is starting to create a strong connection between the names ‘Kpop Demon Hunters’ & 'Sir Hairless’ in my mind: it’s nice to see you enjoying something that much! 😅 I can’t refuse the generous invitation to watch a film with you, so, tonight I’ll grab some popcorn and I will join you to finally see this movie 😊 Thanks for opening the virtual doors of your living room to have us over for some movie!

Maria

I'm sure other people have told you this by now but the song that you liked was called Strategy and it's by the K-pop group Twice or 2wice. I actually downloaded it because of this movie. It's a full song and I enjoy listening to it on my playlist

SiimplyJessica

And just to share my opinions, your item and what it sounds like are my favorite songs from this movie. I can't listen to what it sounds like without sobbing, I love the dissonant harmony right after they start singing their separate lines there's a dissonace before they start fighting and then when they come together at the end in the middle of the 3 part stage and hug in the movie, they're harmony is resolved with consonance beautifully

SiimplyJessica

Just a quick thought, they don't remit all the Latin from your idol. But they take out a lot of the music particularly between the chorus and the hook and bridge. But the Latin is in there, It's a core integral piece of the song. at least in the beginning, with the choral elements and the Latin is still there..

SiimplyJessica

Really enjoyed your film reaction. If you've not yet seen it, you might consider doing one for the film Sinners. That movie has amazing music, and I would love to hear your take on it.

Shannon

Came from YouTube! I'm so happy. Everybody locks their reactions behind paywalls. And I know you're a newer channel, so I'm so happy you put it out there for everybody because this is a great way to draw new paying patrons in and new subscribers and everything so I'm so happy you decided to do this.

SiimplyJessica

Absolutely love this movie! So glad you did a reaction to it, I think I might have to rewatch the film for the 3rd time 🔥

crevcrevcrev

Really interesting reaction! ;D

Jeffri Boisvert

I always need snacks for movies too, and never anything “healthy” 😉 That would completely break the rules. My go-to is popcorn with jalapeño slices. And yes, I kept trying to figure out who Mira reminded me of. You were right with Rosa from Brooklyn Nine-Nine! 😆🙌🏻 My next hot chocolate purchase for you will need to be spent on a corndog! They’re disgusting! in the best way 😋 …there’s a sister channel for you! Haha. “Sir H tries new foods.” This movie really has a lot of strong themes. The one that stood out most to me was self-acceptance. Identifying and accepting our faults and flaws is the first step toward working on them, and I think that is how we keep shame or our demons from taking over. 🙂 I enjoyed this! Thank you! 😊🙌🏻

Juliana Livingston

🙌🏽 🙏

Sir Hairless

Yeah it's crazy! There are loads of videos on YouTube where someone has replaced the music in iconic movie scenes and it completely changes the film from e.g. a thriller to a comedy, or a horror to a romance, etc 😅

Sir Hairless

Cool! Nice song 🎵

Sir Hairless

How it’s done is definitely worth a reaction video. The amount of switch ups and the mix of rap and singing is top notch. Free is my personal favorite of all the songs.

Joel Stitzer

Sir Hairless +you made watching this movie (for like the 5th time) sooo interesting! Absolutely love your perspective on all things musical! Thanks for doing this movie reaction! You're incredible...

Melodie Rose

Honestly, I can't count how many times I've seen this movie. Every time I find something new I didn't notice in previous watches. This time, I noticed that before they started singing Your Idol, the Tiger had the bracelet in it's mouth when he nudged Jinu. Probably to remind Jinu.

jewelcrystal

Oh, also, thank you for not crunching popcorn. I really appreciate your kindness with that. I only heard the chocolate a couple of times which meant it didn't bother me, but popcorn sounds would've been louder and my misophonia would've caused me to have to stop watching. So thank you for your forethought and kindness towards the viewers!

Turtle2002

This was my third full watch, though I have certain scenes I watch multiple times. My favorite song is What it Sounds Like. The frisson I feel when they hit that chord before they start fighting towards each other... I think it helps that Rumi is singing almost a cappella before that. I also love that it has musical call backs to other parts of the film. I don't watch full reactions often, but I like your videos which is why I came to Patreon to see this. Was definitely worth it. I don't mind when you stop the film and talk about it. I'm here to listen to you talk music. Also, the animation is fantastic. I've watched a previs artist breakdown How It's Done as well as the bath house fight sequence, and it's fascinating. I really feel like, of the major US animation studios, Sony is putting out the most cool and interesting stuff. Disney / Pixar is stuck in their ways and so has become boring. With Into the Spiderverse and K-Pop Demon Hunters, Sony for the win! (I am going to grant Dreamworks The Wild Robot. That looked so lush and painterly, and felt like it wasn't CGI, even though it was still used. Too bad that was their last fully in-house animated film.) Ok, I've gone to far side-questing. Anywho, thank you for this video! Love learning from you!

Turtle2002

I am addicted to this movie (:

6:10 This actually captures really well the excitement of being a K-pop fan. 18:30 That song is Strategy by Twice (of whom more later); I think this version is purely Twice, but there's also a version where they teamed up with Megan Thee Stallion... 19:40 Yeah, normally it really isn't... it looks like HUNTR/X really don't work for a label at all, though, and do basically everything themselves. 21:05 Funnily enough, I just watched a Billboard interview the other day with EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami (their singing voices), and it was bizarre just how much they channelled their characters, both visually and in general vibes! 27:50 Nope only the hunters and demons can see it; even Bobby's completely oblivious to what's really going on. 32:40 This song is Love Me Right by Exo. 33:00 And this song is Love, Maybe by MeloMance... it's part of the soundtrack for Business Proposal, which also starred Ahn Hyo-seop, who plays Jinu here. 35:25 They're demons; they don't need prep time. Or something. 36:55 Cartoon physics apply. 😜It's kinda lampshading the ridiculousness. 37:10 The guy who provides Baby's voice, Danny Chung, does not look like him, and probably looks more like you'd imagine him to. But I know quite a few real idols who really don't sound like you expect them to on sight, so it's not that jarring. 38:20 "Special effects". 38:55 There are suggestions that she's actually on the autistic spectrum. 40:00 "Hoobaes" is often translated as "juniors", in this case it means a group who debuted after you. In return, the Saja Boys would call HUNTR/X "seonbaenim" or "seniors", with the "nim" part basically being an honorific title. 1:48:10 This the three (out of nine) members of the aforementioned Twice: Jeongyeon, Jihyo and Chaeyoung, cover *their* version of Takedown; these aren't the ladies who provided their voices in the film. And yeah, Chaeyoung is pretty loaded with tattoos and piercings etc. 1:53:25 His stage name is written "SamUIL Lee". And yeah, I think this is my sixth time watching it in full. 😜

Brickerbrack

done watching it once... i'm about to watch it again now.

jewelcrystal

It is remarkable how music in a movie/film even when not front and center, sometimes being barely audible, how it influences our reactions, be it tension, sadness and more, an integral part of our perceptions. I am sure certain movies come to mind for all of us. So many catchy tunes in this, great animation as well. Fun movie, some parts of it quite intense! First time watching this as well. Very much appreciate you taking the time to do this reaction, always interesting to hear your input/observations particularly about the music!

Elise

I liked it a bit more this time around. The first time, I watched it on the heels of finishing the Arcane series (also animated), which had a very different feel musically. I think our 'presence' kept you from singing along out loud. 😄 This was fun. 10/10 would watch along again.

Jasa

I really enjoyed this. You did a great job. As always. This is my 3rd time watching the entire movie. Parts still bring out the feels. Awesome job Sir Hairless!! 👏 🙂

Susan

I'm glad you mentioned some of the musical themes. I listened with headphones this time and noticed another theme in What It Sounds Like. I love the Golden theme with the audience, but when Jinu takes on Gwi-ma and starts talking to Rumi, you can hear the chords from Free. Love those little details. Composers are so clever.

Faureamour

This was like my 5th time watching kpdh and, i gotta say, I do not regret it in the least. Great reaction, happy you did this!

Lucas

The song at 32:55 is the main song from the Kdrama, Business Proposal, the speaking voice actor for Jinu is one of the main characters from that show, that’s why they used that particular song

Faen_Galan

😆 This is the kind of stuff that goes on in my head

Sir Hairless

Thank you for the time 🍿 🎵 🙏

Sir Hairless

The film is definitely worth it!🎞️👌🏽 High quality animation, vibrant colours, catchy songs, ( my favourite is Golden ) and an interesting storyline. The film does explore some deep themes, like self acceptance, overcoming shame, expressing ones true identity, wich i think is great! It's not just action with some catchy songs. I completely agree with you that music in films is very powerful. It can either make or break it🎵 It was so exciting to watch KPop Demon Hunters with you, Sir Hairless! Your insightful and interesting thoughts on the film and your commentary on the music made it so much more enjoyable! Thank you so much for doing this and for all the hard work and time to make this possible🙏❤️

Eleni

Awesome - thanks for sharing!

Sir Hairless

Great video, thanks for doing this.

Johan Lindros

I watched this movie 3 times, this is the 4th time, and definitely will watch more, because subtle details are always discovered at every watch :)) a lot of stuf were cut from the film to make it to Netflix's runtime requirments. I think Sony is cursing whoever sol d this to Netflix for peanuts because they were not expecting this wild response. i hope we get a prequel, I want to know the love story of Rumi's mom and dad soooooo baaaad.

XIA

1:08:36 made me laugh out loud 🤣

Courtney Tseung

8:51 Mr. Sir Hairless. You have no idea how much people are willing for this. 3BSKYEN gets new subscribers after watching him turn a 30 minute episode into a 3+ hour lecture on just the animation, his forté. In fact, I was actually HOPING for a breakdown of each one! 😅

Jim Delaney

I watched this once with my kids. They loved it. I loved it. The music was fantastic. I thought it was so funny, as well. I was sad, though, that Rumi and Jinu didn't get their happily ever after. I'm a sucker for that. I'd watch a movie with you anytime, Sir. My go-to snack is popcorn. And I love going to the theater by myself. I can get much more immersed. I absolutely would expect to get at least a little musical analysis from you during a film like that. Would probably be disappointed if you said nothing. Thank you for this, SH. Two hours well spent. 🎥🎬🎞📽🖤🩶🖤

Karen McEwan

1:14 Mr. Sir Hairless, I became a free member to watch this reaction. You are maybe reaction number 20 to this very movie. I. Binge. Reactions. If I subscribe to a new rector that I discover, I'll check their playlists for: Marvel movies, Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss, Doctor Who, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, etc, and binge. I found you via Hazbin songs, and have watched a number of other videos. People watch reactors out of love of the content, as well to see other points of view of what they love, and personally, I watch reactions to also learn, due to an Autistic insatiable curiosity.

Jim Delaney

The version of Takedown ~55 minutes in was the version by Twice, not by the singing voices of the girls in the movie. Not sure if anyone on Youtube has posted this, but here's the breakdown of the girls Arden Cho as Rumi, the lead vocalist and leader of Huntr/x, who wields a saingeom sword in combat. Ejae provides Rumi's singing voice. May Hong as Mira, the visual and main dancer of Huntr/x,[13] who wields a gokdo polearm in combat. Audrey Nuna provides Mira's singing voice. Ji-young Yoo as Zoey, the main rapper, lyricist, and maknae of Huntr/x,[13] who wields shinkal throwing knives in combat. Rei Ami provides Zoey's singing voice.

William McCoy

Gonna be an animation nerd for a minute; the animation style differences you noticed has to do with the fact that they animate humans in twos (changing their pose every 2 frames), and demons in ones (changing their pose every frame). It makes the animation look more fluid when demons are on-screen. They use different voice production effects on demons as well during songs to create an interesting contrast. It's such an easy to miss detail but I love that they went with it!

Ciel

At this point, I have no idea how many times I've seen it, but it's so good I don't mind watching it once more with you :D My grandchildren are obsessed with this movie, mostly because of the music :)

Katty

Not sure what you mean, sorry?

Sir Hairless

This was my 3rd time watching this fun flick, made more fun because I got to watch it with you. Thanks for letting us all into your living room to watch it together!

Kate Tracton

I've really been looking forward to your reaction to this movie. Settling in with some snacks now. 😁

ShipMistress

I would watch 3 hours of this with your analyses!!

Courtney Tseung

I lost count of how many times I've watched this movie. This is my 3rd or 4th watch with a reviewer on Patreon.
