Contours!

I was revisiting this sketch earlier and realized it illustrates the power of cross contours really well. My first attempt was flat, unsatisfying, but when I approached it again I took my time, drew through the forms(the red lines), and the result was something much more convincing and spatially aware than the original drawing.
It's also important to note that clothing and other accessories make great, natural cross contours! In the original they were reinforcing the flatness, but once I had a better frame of reference I was able to use them to show the form underneath.
I hope that makes sense! If anyone would like to know more or like some one on one advice you're welcome to dm me. I'm not the most articulate teacher, but I like to learn too and perhaps can point you in the right direction if I don't have an answer for you myself!
