The Patron Scholarship is here!

We’re excited to announce our first-ever Patron Scholarship . We’re giving out multiple $300 awards to any Forum Member who wants to grow their craft skills. 

As I said in the video, I’m kicking off the fundraising with a $500 contribution and we have 3 ways that you can contribute to the Scholarship fund:

1.) Join the new Scholars tier on Patreon. For everyone who joins now and stays at that level until October 10th, I’ll donate $5 to the Scholarship Fund. (This is a one-time donation and you’ll need to drop back to your original tier after October 5th; I cannot change your tier.)

2.) The Limited Edition Patron Scholar Card Scraper
For each scraper we sell, we’ll donate $5 to the scholarship fund. This product is priced to cover costs, taxes and the scholarship contribution; I make little or no money from each sale.

3.) The Handtool Hero: International Edition
We still have a good number of these, so we’re opening them up to all Patrons (no matter where you live) and we’re discounting them down to $25. For each one we sell, we’ll donate $5 to the Scholarship Fund. (Again, we’ve discounted these so that they cover costs and scholarship contribution only; I make little or no profit from these sales.)

I’ve created this thread for questions and discussion of the Scholarship Program. Feel free to ask anything, throw around ideas, talk about the fundraisers. Anything you like.

We’re really looking forward to this new chapter in our community. This is our chance to give back a little to the people who have given so much to us.

Scholarship Rules:

By submitting a scholarship application, you agree to the following rules:

1. The Patron Scholarship is open to Patrons in good standing 15 years of age or older.
2. To apply, you must be an active Forum Member. (If you’re not currently a member, you can make a new account right now.)
3. Funds will be distributed via Paypal. By applying, you agree that you either have a functioning Paypal account (in your legal name) or that you will open one in the event you are awarded a scholarship.
4. If you are blocked from Patreon or banned from the forum during the application period or before funds are distributed, you are disqualified and your application post will be deleted. If you have been chosen for a scholarship, your scholarship will be awarded to the next eligible applicant on the judges’ list.
5. If you live in a country currently under U.S. or U.N. sanctions or if we are prevented from legally transferring funds to you or your country of residence, your scholarship will be awarded to the next eligible applicant on the judges’ list.
6. If you do not or cannot receive your award within 30 days of the judges’ final decision, your scholarship will be awarded to the next eligible applicant on the judges’ list.
7. If you are found to have behaved dishonestly or unethically during the application period or sought to unduly influence the judges’ decision, your scholarship will be awarded to the next eligible applicant on the judges’ list.
8. If you’re under the age of 18, your scholarship funds may be transferred to your legal guardian.
9. By entering, you agree that we may announce you (by your forum name) as one of the winners.
10. Your scholarship may be counted as income and you may owe taxes on it. It is your responsibility to report this income to the government and pay any applicable taxes.
