The people behind this had a Sundance hit with Magazine Dreams…which starred Jonathan Majors as a roid-rage bodybuilder just before he was arrested for domestic assault, resulting in the film being shelved. Talk about winning yet losing! I read the original feature script for this one and it had BEAUTIFUL atmosphere but the mystery was a total afterthought. Stretching it out into a series struck me as a way to develop the plot and characters more, but also seemed problematic because there’s not a huge amount of story in the first place.
