Added 2025-06-19 00:24:49 +0000 UTCWeโre thrilled to share our latest update on the modeling and texturing of the terrifying Mutant Squirrels from the Kandy Zoo! ๐ฐ๐ฟ๏ธ Not only have we textured these creatures, but weโve also enhanced their geometry and overall design, bringing us closer to a real final result. ๐ ๏ธ
These squirrels play a pivotal role in our story, being the ones who attack Veroะธa and throw her into a container filled with waste. To ensure their design aligns with the tone of the movie, weโve been studying references of bald gray squirrels (as seen in the 2005 film) to better understand the unique texture and appearance of skin. ๐จ
๐ฏ Key Improvements:
The Tongue: Or more accurately, the monstrous tentacle-like appendage that emerges from their mouths. This grotesque feature now includes several venomous barbed stingers used to paralyze their prey.
Weโve added protuberances to the gums and incorporated flagella on the sides of the stingers, allowing them to firmly latch onto surfaces for efficient toxin delivery.
To heighten the realism, weโve included veins running along the tongue's trunk and superdeveloped taste buds, helping these squirrels easily distinguish between good and bad nuts.
Our goal? To make it seem like this terrifying tongue is a separate creature hiding inside the squirrelโs bodyโemphasizing the idea that "appearances can be deceiving".
The Skin: Weโve decided to keep the squirrels bald, staying true to the realistic look of the hairless squirrels depicted in the film. Their fur will be created through a 3D simulation process, starting with prototype haircards to help us design and control the distribution of their fur masses with precision.
