Excercise Ball (Process)

It's just shy of Christmas at the moment and I've given myself a few days to recover from being sick (I'm on the uptick!) and play video games and work on personal art and such. I've plowed through most of Resident Evil Village, this time in third person. I rarely replay a game so soon after initially playing it, but it's just such a campy romp, I couldn't help it. It's been great fun.
Anyway, I've had this painting sitting very much unfinished on my desktop since July of 2020 apparently. I've always really liked it, but these detailed paintings can be a real undertaking and that's why I haven't done one in such a long time. I have another unfinished one that I'd like to get back to one day, too, but for now we'll start here. Admittedly, it's tough to put in a lot of work on a piece and it flops online because it can be really hard to predict what of mine will connect and if the algorithms will favor it and...well, a million other variables. You'd think a detailed painted piece would be likelier to catch a lot of eyes - that was often conventional wisdom in online art spaces - but truly it's impossible to predict nowadays. I have to remember to make art that speaks to me, too, whether or not it's a dud in the metrics department.
I've put in a little progress on it since opening it up a couple nights ago and I forgot how therapeutic painting can be. It's a labor but it's also a fun grind. And we here at Drew Draws Pinups love a fun grind, don't we? ;)
