Pinup Sticker Club - May Stickers COMPLETE

Happy Thursday, my lil' Kingdom Hearts!

I'm happy to finally reveal BOTH of the Pinup Sticker Club stickers for May's theme, "Playstation 2!" Thanks for your patience on these!

Back in the early 2000's, I remember a really popular drawing prompt on internet forums and DeviantART was "draw video game consoles as sexy ladies." There's a name for it, something Japanese, but it's escaping me...feel free to tell me in the comments if you know it, haha. Anyway, I thought that would be a great jumping off point for this sticker. It felt period-appropriate, the right level of silly, and ultimately a great way to encompass the console and experience itself rather than any specific games.

I knew I wanted to find inspiration in ridiculous "sexy" early 00's fashion, where everything was made of plastic and felt futuristic and goofy. I also wanted to include references to the mesmerizing blue DVDs some of the games were printed on; the ring of seven spinning, glowing orbs on the system menu; and of course, the ever-iconic Playstation button symbols. He's got two controllers plugged into his ports and he's looking for a player two. Is it gonna be you?!

I don't know if I've ever revealed the Mr. Sticker sticker at the same time as the main sticker, but it feels wrong to show one and not the other in this case. This one's sticker-meta as it has Mr. Sticker as a sticker in the illustration which is ultimately going to itself be a sticker. That's a lot of sticker! Mr. Sticker as Kratos felt like the right approach, too, as it's a series that famously got its start on PS2. I had fun with the dumb puns on the memory card, and I hope it brings you joy when you put it on your stuff! (Big thanks to my boyfriend Thomas for pitching in ideas for the other little stickers on the memory card, particularly PWND. Genius stuff.)

The main sticker is definitely one of my favorite Pinup Sticker Club stickers I've made to date, and I'm so excited to get them out to you early next month!
