Equality's a Bitch

Equality's a Bitch Equality's a Bitch

Hey, I realize because of Patreon's wonky ass-setup that there's no easy way to just page through these, but--if it isn't a big hassle--might it be possible for you to number these, like you started out to do? It makes finding the right next one considerably easier.

Thormation

It could get her in the back of a squad car if Rosemary called the cops on her way to the house.

That One Guy

Kat's hair suggests that Rosemary has just set foot outside her front door. It wouldn't be surprising for her to call Herb and tell him to have a cruiser over at the house in the time it'd take her to get there from where she was plus 90 seconds or so. This would allow her to get Kat away from Pumpkin immediately (don't want to have the argument/talk in front of Pumpkin, certainly), and the argument and justification that she's probably fairly certain Kat would oblige with would give time for the officer to show up and at least witness the license plate as Kat drives away. Having done her research and having a cop for a husband, I suspect she has down what to say to the responding officer too. So she could still be going the police report and/or restraining order route. I too think the pressing charges will be very hard on Pumpkin and hope she's planning to try to avoid it but wanted to put it in Kat's mind for the equality finisher and to have it in mind as the police show up. Speaking of the police, I was surprised that Kat realized Herb was a cop. I'd assumed that she would've ignored that, and find her flaunting the rules here much dumber with that being the case.

That One Guy

Rosemary owes Katrina nothing in terms of arguing back to her. While I'm curious of her views, I'm not at all disappointed that she's not even dignifying a reply to that from Kat. I will be disappointed if she doesn't have an honest (and calmed down) talk with Pumpkin on the matter, and that's where I think we'll see Rosemary's views.

That One Guy

My hypothesis came the semester a few friends and I had three math classes (all math dept professors, one was cross listed with CompSci). We had different Calc 4 professors, but hair was just normal professor hair and they all seemed generally competent. Linear Algebra prof's hair was always perfect, was quite a nice person, but definitely didn't seem to be the sharpest (I like to hope specialty was something else and just lost the coin toss for having to teach that class, but saw no proof one way or the other). The Discrete Math guy seemed fantastic, and you could also believe when he woke up each morning, if his hair all sat less than two inches from his head he'd throw his hands up in the air, start swearing, and go rub his head on carpet for 10 minutes or so until he'd been hearing static constantly crackle for at least 90 seconds. It seemed obvious to us at that point, and we all made a special point to mess our hair up as much as we could the moment we walked in for each of those three finals.

That One Guy

I don't think it will get her anywhere though.

Felli

Exactly! I love how Kat says she has self control, when she couldn't even control herself from going over to the house in the first place. :p Rosemary see's through her crap!

BrandX

I'm almost disappointed that Rosemary isn't defending herself against Kat's accusation of homophobia, but really with Kat that would just be a huge waste of time and energy and Rosemary knows it. Kat is too damned self-righteous to consider that she could, in fact, be wrong and even IN the wrong here. So a swift kick to the rear and a strong promise of legal prosecution will have to suffice instead. Until Kat shows up again, at least. I bet she will. And maybe a nice chat with Pumpkin regarding sexuality and more subtle predators like Kat.

Hey, Mr Rusche, thanks for the new post! You must be feeling better.

Dan

Agreed. That was awesome sauce. Thank you, Rusche. If I didnt love this series before, I definitely do now.

Nicholas Stephenson

Doesn't keep her from trying.

Lukas Buergi

*deep nod of approval*

Oh my yes. Deftly done, Rusche!

Interesting hypothesis. Calc 1 I had a guy with Spock hair. Calc 2 was a little Indian guy with a just-got-out-of-bed mop. Cal 3/BVPs was an older but dapper gent who wore hats outside of class. Complex the first time was an old, bald guy. Complex the second time (for advanced degrees) was an even older balder guy. I won't count math-related classes like numerical methods, differential geometry and things like that. Overall I don't think there was enough hair to style for a decent conclusion. Kat's bangs were ill kempt. This suggested to me that her presence was not meant to stay... unless she had a serious makeover. Something within Pump's power iyam.

Rosey, Rosey, Rosey... you know better then that... but maybe it is your first time dealing with a predator first hand. Get a protective order so, in ten days when she comes back, it is'nt just your story against hers. Or at least file a police report for trespassing so you get Kat into the system so when she does come back you can get her profiled as a stalker... this helps preserve Pumpkins privacy, which will be completely gone when you file the protective order (whatever that is called in Lakeland).

The Lurker

I don't think we have any degree of a data point here for Rosemary's views on if Pumpkin's (non-coerced) sexuality. Even if she'd said something negative, which she didn't, this is just her and Kat, just directed at Kat, and seems like anger has a slight hold on the wheel here. I am hopeful that the Ginger flashbacks were Rosemary reminding herself of her mistakes in the hope to avoid repeating them. That being said, Kat's fair game for venting some of that anger that she needs to be careful about when dealing with Pumpkin.

That One Guy

Hard to say. I can say that I noticed in college that the math professors' skill in math appeared to be inversely proportional to how their hair looked (baldness being an unknown, not immediate top rank).

That One Guy

Rosemary just out-tumblred Kat. Daaaaaaamn.

Adan

Go mama bear. Kat won't get away with hypocritical arguments around Rosemary.

Felli

Love Rosemary's closing remarks here, a nice way to bring things full circle with what Damien was saying before Kat told him to F off.

Michael Darnell

Is it in poor form to point out that characters with bad hair typically only have a short run? Or does that give away too much?

shedemon

I love the equality vs preferential treatment closer. Zing!

Wow, this is such great drama. Go momma bear!! >:}

I really hope this means Rosemary doesn't mind the Pumpkin may be gay and was just trying to keep her minor-aged daughter from making a mistake with Miss Tumblr-Mentality there. Also Kat is one of the worst people. Equality can be a great thing but it's a double edged sword when it comes to the people who want to cling to the preferential treatment given to them. Ladies can be predators too, Crabby Creepy Kat.

I absolutely love that you made her hair stick out like that from where Momma Buckingham dragged her from the house. I do not love the fact that Kat doesn't see any problem whatsoever for what she did. She had nothing but problems with it when she was discussing with Damien who should give Pumpkin a ride home.

Rebecca Chapman

Hmmm, I wonder no mention of having a business associate in Lakeland. That makes me wonder if Damien cut ties, though I suspect it's more that Kat doesn't take Rosemary seriously.

That One Guy

Bye Kat. Wow though, I'd certainly hate to be on the wrong side of Mama Buckingham O.o

Rebecca
