2023-07-29 06:26:48 +0000 UTCNah bro Kanye is my favorite artist of all time and Utopia clears Donda. Not by much, but lets be honest. There’s some BAD songs on Donda. Remote control, God Breathed, Lord I Need You, Ok Ok….. all weak tracks. Honestly Tell The Vision might be one of the worst tracks I’ve ever heard and its also this poor of an effort is disrespectful to Pop Smoke. There are VERY high highs, though. Come to Life and Jesus Lord had me in tears bro. Off the Grid, Moon, and Life of the Party were 3 of the best songs of the year. I think Utopia may not reach the emotional highs but as far as car bangers, Meltdown absolutely obliterates everything on Donda lol that track goes absolutely crazy. I agree that Donda is more cohesive, but that doesn’t really matter when you’re getting like 5 really bad tracks and a couple other mediocre ones. Also I think Utopia is a more consistently good album as it has less bloat, and far less mediocre tracks. For me, and remember Kanye is my favorite artist of all time, I’d say: Utopia 8.5/10 right below Graduation and right above Tlop Donda 7.5/10 (But the best 7.5/10 album I’ve ever heard) right below Tlop and right above Yeezus

2023-07-28 18:49:56 +0000 UTCIt was obviously going for that Donda vibe, but Donda is much more unique and bold imo. It’s more minimalist, but also more eerie, beautiful, haunting, and atmospheric. There’s a simplicity that is so confident. It’s also more cohesive. I personally think 21/23 of the core Donda tracks are amazing. There were some misses on Utopia. I really like Utopia, but a lot of it has too much of that typical trap sound in it, which makes it seem a *little* generic. Not hating, just challenging y’all to go listen to Donda again and see if you feel me on this. I really think Donda is going to age well and people will look back on it much differently.
