Quick Update: ETA Saturday-Sunday

Greetings!

Though there's still 2.5 hours of Friday left for me, it's clear that I won't be done by then. I'm thinking I'll be done tomorrow, but it could be as late as Sunday morning.

I posted this info in a comment to the previous thread, but I figured it was important enough for a separate post, so here it is: 0.6 will basically be released in two parts; the first part, which will hopefully go out tomorrow, and a second part, which will come out within 2 weeks of the first. Here's what you can expect:

0.6:

• All the H-scenes
• Recollection Room
• Bunny conversation portrait pics
• New Aekashics enemy graphics
• Credits
• The first 1/3 of the dungeon (the least interesting part, unfortunately)
• The story content that goes along with that dungeon content (probably 1/2 to 2/3 of 0.6 story content)
• The new classes
• New abilities for Ana and the PC

0.6.1 (or 0.6.2 if 0.6 needs a hotfix):

• The rest of the dungeon
• The rest of the story content
• Dungeon hard modes
• Revised Bunny portrait pics (not definite, but a strong possibility)
• Side quests (including the legendary starter)

To be clear, the place I'm ending story & dungeon content in 0.6 makes perfect sense within the context of the story; you won't be walking into an incomplete dungeon (or incomplete anything). I also want to make clear that a lot of the stuff for the second release is already done, I just won't be able to finish it by tomorrow.

Why am I splitting content like this? The short answer is that I feel a need to get something good out very soon, but I don't have what I feel is enough time to complete everything I wanted to in 0.6. I'm not willing to compromise on quality, so I decided to compromise on size/scope.

All this has gotten me thinking about how I'll be structuring updates in the future. I really, really want to move toward shorter release cycles (and I'm sure all of you do as well!). People in the business world have this concept of 'minimum viable product' - the set of features that must exist in a product for them to sell it and begin getting feedback for future development. I've been thinking lately about a sort of 'minimum viable release'. The constraints I'd be dealing with are:

• It must incorporate at least one H-scene
• It must advance the story in a logically coherent chunk
• Any content or areas introduced must be reasonably whole and complete (no half-finished stuff can make it into game)

I'll definitely be looking at 0.7's feature/content list with this in mind.

If anyone has any thoughts - particularly on the 'minimum viable release' idea - please let me know. I'm sorry for any disappointment, and I thank you for your continued patience!
