A Quick Update

It's a pretty crazy time, and I hope you're all staying safe out there! At the rate 2020 is going, I'm expecting an extraterrestrial invasion by Thanksgiving (do you think they'll want turkey or ham?) But I'll carry on regardless, perhaps adding a quirky, adorable alien sidekick to let our new overlords know I'm not at all unhappy about their benevolent rule.
I don't have a ton to say in this update; I just wanted to let everyone know I'm hard at work on 0.9. I'm pretty in the zone now, and I figured the project would be better served getting back to it rather than writing one of my tl;dr posts. The tl;dr posts are usually something I do when I'm trying to work something out in my own mind. There's not much to work out now (aside from story/implementation details) - it's more about execution at this point. Writing, picking out enemy images, editing sprites, doing movement for scenes, making sure the logic of everything ties together properly, that sort of thing.
I've included another image from the scene with Sami, and I hope you enjoy it :D This is a tough scene for me, since I really like a lot of the images. Unfortunately, liking them makes the flaws stand out more (to me,) thus there's always a temptation to go back and try to correct them. This week I re-rendered an image only to find that I didn't like the newer one quite as well, so I've let most of them be. The writing of the scene wasn't as good as I thought it should have been, so I actually went back and substantially rewrote it. It's a blend of funny and darkly hot now, much superior to the original (in my opinion.) Some folks have commented that they like my pr0n scenes because rather than simply being fap material, they also develop and illuminate the characters. This one definitely follows in that tradition.
Anyway, that's all I have for now. I'll drop a line more regularly now that we're getting closer to release. I may not have much to say, but I want to let y'all know that the corona/cops/rioters/aliens haven't gotten me yet, and I'm still plugging away. I hope you manage to stay safe from all that stuff, too, and I thank you for your support!

I do actually use an animation framework (Dragonbones) for some of the enemies, but I didn't make the animations myself. I may try out some animated scenes later in the game, but I doubt I'll add little animated flourishes to the game itself at this point.

2020-06-06 09:21:35 +0000 UTCReading the bit about how you do the h-scenes and what you want to achieve with them was very interesting - they've always stood out to me as way more interesting and captivating than the average fap-game h-scene. I guess the difference is that they very often go towards emulating porn while the TPE scenes feel more like actual VN/erotica content. Obviously I'd love to see triple the amount of them, but a person can create so much content at a time, if course.

2020-06-06 09:01:17 +0000 UTCToo late for that on this game but that is a cool idea for a future project. I second that. Although, I think that was just simple frame work used in healslut. Like a flip book. I know, essentially that is what all animation is. But flipping a book is not as smooth as let's say the movie "Avatar" for example. I am not suggesting anything that fancy but there is software out there to make some pretty cool animations depending on the skeleton being used in the game. It takes a decent rig to accomplish though. Can be expensive. The one I wondered if you were associated with spells their name a little different. Proxy animations. Not Proxxie. But having a flipbook type affect would be a much easier task to just add some breathing affects. Some use that to even do sexual thrusting and moves. It works. Some are only 2 frames back and forth from picture to picture but having like 5 pictures or frames to the scene can make it interesting. Might make the game heavy in file size if not properly compressed and all that. Hell, you guys probably know more about all of that than I do. I created a few mods for Skyrim but my Python coding skills suck. I can't remember all of the commands and takes too long to look them up every time. My memory is garbage. LOL

2020-06-06 08:23:23 +0000 UTCSomething you could do in the meantime is try and make breathing or passive animations for certain characters in character view mode or for their portraits and stuff. This is something that the game healslut does to pretty solid effect.
