Art asset progress: April - August

Hello!
Himokone here!
I've decided to take-up the task of posting art updates from now on!

I'll do my best to make monthly update posts, where I'll describe what I've been up to,
what assets I've been working on, and what I plan to do next!

To start off, In this post I'd like to let you know what I've been doing after our Kickstarter succeeded in March, till the month of August!
For Mintai Merchant's and Socialites, I'll be including some files in the attachments so you can take a closer look at the art too!
These will mostly be JPG's, PNG's, GIMP's xcf files, and sometimes Blender files!
I have a ton to learn when it comes to making post like these, so feel free to offer feedback in the comments!
Let's start!

March-April:
During this time no art assets were made for Bedabots,
Since my work for our launch was finished, I had to occupy myself with working on comms while we waited for the Kickstarter to conclude.
During this time I worked on 11 commissions, two of which I unfortunately had to put on pause,
which I'll finish after we manage to release some meaningful updates for Bedabots.
These comms have no relation to Bedabots, but I'll include them in the attachments for those that are interested in checking them out!

May:
This month was mostly spent on creating an additional comic page to expand the dealership scene.
We received a lot of feedback that the scenes with SH0CK1TTY were too short,
so this extra page was made to improve the flow of the story.
The rest of my time was spent on various miscellaneous tasks and handling irl matters.

June:
Ramping up!
Various tasks were done, most of which weren't too exiting, but still crucial work which required attention, such as-
1.Creating the Bedabot Height map.
Here I planned out the general heights and proportions of Bedabot models,
these aren't meant to be used strict rules for the look of Bedabots,
but rather as guidelines, bases, on which I'll build upon when designing new Bedabots and Human characters.
2.Creating rough comic drafts for chapter 2
3.Making Adjustments to Kone's 3D models.
Kone's old model had various issues, so I started to remake it,
I planned on making him show up as a flat gray silhouette in the game,
so I gave him exaggerated muscles that would show up as detail on his outline,
(I received feedback that he looked like a placeholder, so I remade his mesh again in August.)
4.Misc tasks, like compiling KS backer's Bedabot descriptions.

July:
One of the characters that received a lot of love was Red/P4ND4.
While I worked on the prologue, all I had to use as reference as her initial design sketch.
We received a lot of requests to diversify the sizes of Bedabots,
so I spent half of the month reworking her design, bumping up her size to Type D,
and making a full, detailed character sheet.
(crucial ref material, especially for making her 3D model.)
While I was at it, I also remade the sheet for SH0CK, to maintain consistency.
The other half of July was spent working on Red's 3D model.

August:
During August I "finished" working on Red's 3D model.
Regarding the quotation marks, since my skillset isn't focused around 3D,
there's always things to improve upon and I often fail to notice some mistakes which bite me in the butt later on.
Additionally, since I don't have a full, comprehensive list of every pose and expression she'll have during the entirety of the game, I predict that I'll have to return to her model and make further additions and adjustments.
(this applies to all 3D models, so please be patient with me if I mention anything about making further changes to them!)
Further changes were made to Kone's 3D model.
I remade it from scratch again to achieve a more fitting aesthetic, and improved the topology of the mesh so that the shadows render smoother.
SH0CK's model was revisited as well, remaking her topology and generally improving her overall mesh.
I them handed the three to my assistant for Rigging.
After all of that, I began work on remaking the models and sprites for the apartment.

That's the short recap!
In the attachments of this post I've included various images and GIF's to illustrate what I've described above, take a look!
In the next post I'll be showing what was done during September!

Thank you! We've been told that people are getting upset about not seeing more updates, so I hope these small dev logs will make the wait a bit more bearable! -Himo

Awesome to hear! Any update is great to hear in my opinion, even if it's just wip artwork.
