SO. I've sent out the physical rewards to those that should have 'em; if you don't have yours by this time next week, start getting furious and drop me a line.
I've been hard at work on The Spire (the next big game I'm releasing, hopefully in Winter 2017) but also ticking away on the upcoming one-pager, tentatively titled [THIS IS] NOT A PLACE OF HONOUR. For reasons that may soon become apparent, it might be a two-pager.
The game is divided up into two halves. In one half, you play the role of the a tribal storyteller using ancient runes to tell the tale of How We Came To Be Here with the children from your tribe, giving them the roles of your ancient folk heroes and demigods to keep them entertained. Your runes bear an uncanny resemblance to Hazard Warning Symbols, which is because...
Hundreds, maybe thousands of years ago, your ancestors were hurtling towards the planet in an out-of-control spaceship carrying a deadly and terrible secret. They weren't demigods: they were radiation-sickness addled third-class technicians, amphetamine-laced doctors and the only officer not clawing their eyes out due to cryosleep insanity. You play them, and you play out what actually happened in the myths, and why the people of the tribe don't go near the wreckage of the ship.
Play (should!) go back and forth between the "present day" and the "past" (both of which are actually our future), and I'm aiming to have the game done in about two hours.
However, it's a tricky one to write! So there might not be a game this month - we'll see how it goes, what with Christmas and all.
