My god, what an ending

i was never a big fan of the second part of the show after L's death but the ending has always been special to me. after spending the entire show going back and forth on rooting for light and rooting for L or N, Light's demise was very bittersweet. seeing his breakdown, having his entire world come to and end, only to peacefully pass on on his own, but then also knowing that he's going to live an eternity in purgatory paying for what he's done. i find it poetic in a way.

I just love the symbolism with Light lying in the middle of the staircase. As you know, humans who use the notebook can neither go to heaven nor hell so i thought it was a great way to show that. Great reaction as always, do you plan on checking out the short 4 minute deleted scene "L's Funeral"? You can find it on youtube, it's a deleted scene from just after Episode 25. Also I do believe Misa did jump off the bridge to her death in the end credit scenes after hearing about the death of Light. If you're interested in this sort of stuff, here's a link to a fan-made alternate ending where Light actually won. Personally I like the idea of it, and the alternate ending, as I wasn't honestly the biggest fan of the original ending. I've gotta say watching these in the double bill format has worked so well for this anime! Before Christmas this started and what a journey, I'll never forget the ending to this anime, watching Light die was oddly just for what he'd done but still very sad. Thanks again Joseph for all your videos.
