2020-12-17 19:29:48 +0000 UTCHis plan originally was to get close to Schuwald as his Son, but what I (at least) think changed that was when he met Karl. When he listens to Karl talk on the rooftop about his life, I originally thought that he just did it to fill the gaps in his story to better fool Schuwald but looking back that was the start of a change. When he cried on the rooftop then it was actually real and when he introduced Karl to his father he still ended up in a position that granted him influence and power (with the option to dispose of both at a later time), he did it because Karl is the son of the woman that was his mothers best friend. What really made him abandon his plan was the picture book and the memories it brought back, that’s what is driving him for the rest of the entire story.
