Wow bullseye again with the analysis at the end. Childhood is so important thematically in this story. The episode with the kids playing johan's game is actually one of the more telling parts of the show, as it shows what johan is all about, i.e. nihilism, and creating these "suicide" scenarios to tempt fate. On top of some the adult characters' childhoods shaping them, or twisting them, the way that johan, tenma and others interact with kids is also extremely important- children are "empty" like johan with no real sense of right and wrong, and thus he identifies with them, whereas tenma can only see the potential for good in them. Monster continues to be consistently great, even on rewatch- really glad I'm getting to do so on your channel
