2021-02-05 09:36:17 +0000 UTCOkita wants the vice-commander position because he wants to be alongside Kondou. Itou never understood him. Even in the ending you can see Kondou and Okita together. The scene with him in the railcar was really cool and demonstrated how much he loves the shinsengumi. And likewise, all the other members of the Shinsengumi including Hijikata feel similarly. They have incredible loyalty towards him.
