Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you do good villain work, while not making the hero seem powerless or unintelligent in the process. Pouf has a great moment of being the conniving villain who can defeat someone without even being aggressive. While Morel gets to play the always-cool strategist, who decides to stop worrying about whether it's a trap, or a trap that makes you *think* it's a trap, or a trap that makes you think it's a trap, because it *is* a trap, or...... and just make a decision. I agree with Morel's decision, too. Regardless of circumstance, really. Given the situation he was in, it made the most sense. If the cocoon itself is the trap and he's meant to waste his time waiting in front of it, then he won't be helping *anyone*. But if breaking the cocoon and releasing Smoky Jail is the trap, at least in that scenario, Morel's back in the fight again. But what really makes the moment for me is that Pouf is right. If Morel hadn't hastily removed the barrier after smashing the cocoon and used gyo to scan the room (which I assume is what is being represented in the "squished like a bug" scene), he could have very quickly found and eliminated Pouf. I imagine his mental and physical condition prevented him from thinking of a third layer to this trap. But that's why it's so good. It's Pouf's tiny little victory, where he uses his knowledge of Morel's mental state to force him to choose between two less than optimal decisions. Pouf rules so hard.
