2021-07-05 02:30:35 +0000 UTCTogashi is fantastic artist. His sense of composition, paneling, and expressiveness is up there among the greatest. And the choreography is legitimately elite. Hunter x Hunter does have a good chunk of poor artwork though, but that's outshined by the amount of great art in HxH.

Some parts of the manga are not up to snuff with the rest of his work but that can largely be attributed to health reasons. I recognize that the criticism can still be sound despite that, but a lot of the time when people complain about the art (especially tankobon), it feels like they're complaining about style, not quality.

2021-07-03 07:43:37 +0000 UTCThe '99 version only went up to the Greed Island arc, so Chimera Ant was entirely new territory when it comes to being animated. As for whether the anime is doing the manga justice, that is definitely a yes. While being an excellent story writer, Togashi's art is subpar, so the anime is a huge improvement in that regard.
