Ideas for next Zen Exclusive

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all well! It is finally time to select a new Patreon exclusive series now that Monster is about to end. I wanted to gather some ideas from everyone to put a new poll together.

As usual, the series should be a lesser known series that perhaps would normally not win in a regular poll.

As always, thank all of you for your support. Take care!

Seconded for Higurashi 2006 (and the sequel, Higurashi Kai) they are both tremendous mystery/horror shows that will keep you theorizing

David

Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 has also become a completely lost classic that no one reacts to anymore because of brotherhood.

David

Rainbow: Nisha Rokubō no Shichinin is really good seinen. If you liked Monster you would probably like this one

David

Hajime no Ippo - oldschool boxing anime.

Chrissy

Serial experiments lain pls

Serial experiments lain pls

I'd suggest Ergo Proxy. Absolutely unique anime. P.S. Zen, please, can you answer is there a chance to see Code Geass reaction? With your analysis it would be awesome reaction.

Yuvitek

Not to mention that Durarara! is from the same author as Baccano!

Yuvitek

Psycho Pass, a great mytery story in my opinion :) Zombieland Saga, zombie comedy story, and Mappa, so great animation To Your Eternity, it was in the last poll, but wasn't close to winning. I think it's one of the best anime of this year so it's worth mentioning(to give as little context as possible, I think it can be said that it's a supernatural adventure).

Barakamon

Loro Lukic

On the dark series side -Psycho pass (3 seasons+movie) -Darker than black (2 seasons-finished) On the bright/happy series side -A place further than the universe (1 season-finished) -The World God Only Knows (3 seasons) -Gekkan shoujo Nozaki-kun (1 season) On the weird series side -Durarara (2 seasons (4/5cours)-finished)

Vladitsvar

Darker than Black

christopher cardozo

Rakugo - great seinen drama and good look into rakugo and japan society after WW2. Psycho-pass - unique anime with amazing setting Hinamatsuri - great comedy with amazing wholesomeness. Eden of the East - completely unknown gem

Paweł Kuś

Dorohedoro :) I also recommend you Bojack Horseman. It's not an anime but it's a real masterpiece and I would love to see your reaction to it.

Luna

Seconding 3-gatsu and hopefully Madoka can win the main polls sometime and finish the Shaft trinity

Katanagatari or Samurai Champloo. Both are great and unique shows, and I don't think they are that popular.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes!

Ocean Flan

I'd recommend eden of the east.(Mystery,Political thriller,Psychological) or original higurashi and Psycho-pass 1

I'd recommend the original Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni for deep mystery/thriller, though admittedly you've already went through a lot of that with Monster. With that in mind, I'd highly suggest Kaiji as it is a gambling anime done right with a great MC.

Zagapain or Blue Gender. Both are overlooked mecha series with psychological undertones and great commentary on the human experience.

I think Lucky star or sayonara zetsubou sensei would be great

Alex

seconding paranoia agent and kaiji, both series I think are right up your alley : ) would have some very interesting/thought provoking discussions

sleepy

I would either say Dororo, Hinamatsuri, Magi, or Noragami

Cross game please, it would take 4 years to finish if it's one request a month

Sand1234

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

Alonso Acosta Pérez

3 gatsu no lion

As has already been mentioned, I'd recommend Kaiji and Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Two more I dont think have been mentioned yet: ashita no joe (first anime masterpiece and boxing show, although quite long) and paranoia agent (directed by satoshi kon, who you said you liked, and you've already reacted to the opening).

gnarledoldman

A lesser known series that a lot of people haven't watched would be 'Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei' ( Goodbye Despair Teacher) its morbid/satirical comedy series which is also a social commentary on issues with japan. Honestly the openings/eds are some of Shafts best work as well.

3- Gatsu no Lion would be great

I would love to see Mushishi

ErebeaEnd

YES PLEASE

Atoc

LEGEND OF THE GALACTIC HEROES

Atoc

3-gatsu no Lion would be fantastic

Anthony

I will say 3-gatsu no Lion, since it almost won in the last patreon exclusive poll I really hope it wins this one

Martian Successor Nadesico, 26 TV eps and one movie, it came out half a year or so after Eva and I personally think its a great anthesis to Eva on the deconstruction of mech anime.

Saifis

I'm going with one of my all-time-favorites again: Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit. Very underappreciated imo, lots of stuff to like in there.

DerHausschuh

Black Lagoon. A brief description I would give it is that it’s a homage to 80s action flicks, with some more mature undertones. Limiting it to just that would be seriously underselling it however. I honestly haven’t been able to find a single show like it since my first viewing (unfortunately the case for so many older series like it). Although it’s the first series I watched, so I am a bit biased, it’s also one of the few I can go back to and continue to enjoy on every viewing. Even if it isn’t picked, I encourage anyone who hasn’t to give it a try. Black Lagoon probably isn’t for everyone, but I’m sure you’ll at least find something to enjoy about it.

Kaiji

HussienSenpai

Baby Steps, sports anime about tennis

odin1212121

I'd love to see the rest of Cross Game.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes

3gatsu no lion, girl's last tour, tatami galaxy

higurashi 2006

Matthew20

Karekano is directed by Hideaki Anno, the director of evangelion The Best romance anime of all time. Any romance anime is garbage compared to Karekano. Even though It Is directed by Hideaki Anno It is ranked #922 of popularity and no one has ever reacted to it.

Fabian Alpuche

Psycho Pass will win a poll eventually, it's pretty popular. Higurashi I second though

LegionaresCZ

Gonna throw in Assassination Classroom, I'm not sure if it really qualifies as lesser known but it's a fantastic series.

Brody Hopper

Kaiji, One Outs, Akagi

Hinamatsuri is a great one that i know you'll enjoy.

Brandon N

Legend of the Galactic Heroes!

Dylan Wade

Maybe Dorohedoro? One of my favourite manga ever. I've only seen bits and pieces of the anime, but from what I've seen and heard it's a great adaptation. As of now there's one season with 12 episodes.

Michael

Same, great ost, animation!!! The story and characters were fantastic

G P

Would love to see a reaction to the 2006 Higurashi anime, not a lot of good reactions out there of that one. Alternatively, Kaiji:Ultimate Survivor would be really interesting, although it is a 2 season show like Higurashi (not sure what the length limit is here). I saw someone suggest One Outs, which is less known. Haven't seen it yet but would definitely watch along with Zen, been on my list for a while.

Tornado Nick

Maybe Durarara! Or Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?

I was thinking of Terror in Resonance? One of my favorite anime osts, only 12 episodes.

G P

Vivy Flourite Eye's Song

Matthew B

I would recommend Psycho Pass or Higurashi No Naku Koro ni

91 days is a great, short Mafia anime taking place in the US

milcasa21

I would say Dororo. Only 24 episodes and very good

YOOOOU

tatami galaxy i think would be a great one or maybe even link click a chinese anime that came out this year

toby

I would love cross game or march comes in like a lion on the poll.

Asael Urena

Terror in resonance (or Terror in Tokyo). A thriller in 11 episodes produced by Mappa and I think you might like it.

Holicow

One-outs is a really good psychological baseball anime and it's really underappreciated in my opinion, would love to see your reaction of that :)

I would love to see Link Click, such a hidden gem.
