However they reference some events of certain people becoming "friends" and this story is a rough account of that meeting. Details are changed of course to try and make things fit together/lack of time, but overall it hits the important points. These bonus episodes are based on an audio drama that came out around the time the anime was in development and eventually expanded on and turned into Book 14. (the train ride Gustav mentions to Carol in episode 1 also takes place there, and in fact the whole book is an information exchange between Gustav and Graham (who busts in just after Gustav makes the Popper), since Graham is sharing some stories he heard about in exchange for more information about what was happening on the Flying Pussyfoot (revealing the story of Ladd's friend Who (the tall guy with Lua) as well as that Lemure that escaped from Ladd while he was questioning the other about Chane, both of which sold their stories to the Daily Days after reaching New York). (there's also some information from Book 3 (the 2nd half of the train story) and 5 (the stinger in episode 13 is actually the beginning of Book 5, while most of the story on the ship was also from Book 5. While the ship is mentioned in Book 1, it's just mentioned briefly to set the stage for the story the narrator is telling to a tourist) that wasn't covered in the earlier episodes).
